Isuzu Trooper Camper Conversion

My little project is going for sale. Unfortunately Revenue have decided that it doesn't meet the requirements to be classified as a camper. The main issue is that they want the kitchen accessible from inside the vehicle. I've sent them links to numerous small Irish campers which have this set up at the rear ie outdoor kitchen.. The guy in Revenue recommended appealing the decision and I'm sure ultimately you would eventually get it across the line as it meets the EU requirements. I haven't got the time for this so it's going to have to go unfortunately.
It's passed the SQI inspection with flying colours and they were happy to sign it off as a camper.

The vehicle itself is registered as a 2 seater commercial and is in superb condition, really well kept. I suppose the options for a purchaser are one of the following:
1. Leave in current configuration and put pressure on Revenue to pass.
2. Leave in current configuration and use as 2 seat camper on commercial tax.
3. Strip everything out and have as 2 seat commercial
4. Remove camper conversion parts and register as a 5 seater crew cab under new rules.

Unfortunately none of the above suit us as we have a baby on the way and want a camper with at least 3 usable seats.

It really looks great and I don't think you should. Have any problem selling that. Best of luck with it.

Looks Great! My second last trooper was identical, actually it was a Jap import and not a Trooper, it was a Isuzu Big horn. Is yours a 3.1 Diesel? If it is petrol you might find it harder to move.

Thanks Jack and Chausson, I'm hoping somebody will come along who appreciates how rare they are in this condition.

Chausson, it is indeed a Big Horn! I spent ages trying to find one with this spec and low km's. It was especially hard to find one in manual. The spec is unreal for a 20 year old jeep, even has lights that shine around the corner when you put on your indicator! It's the 3.1 diesel, wouldn't have any other engine, well maybe the old 2.8 but certainly nothing newer.

You should have no problem selling it Matthew, it looks Fantastic!

The 2.8 was a Brillant Jeep in its day except for the rust, I had two of them, The 3.1 Big Horn and Two 3.0's. The 3.0 has a very bad name but I am driving them for the last 7 or 8 years with out a bother. My current one is 2005, Bought it in UK when it was three years old with 24000 miles, it now has around 90000 and I never Had a problem from it.

Good to hear some positives about the 3.0, they are a fine machine. I believe they didn't experience the same level of problems in the UK that they experienced in Ireland with the 3.0's for some reason. I'm a little fearful of most high pressure diesels anyway, nothing like a good old school diesel but they're getting thin on the ground now.
