getting moved on !!

With great excitement about the weather report last weekend we set off for 5 nights away in our camper, just heading off . Our first stop was thursday 12th June in Galway beside the marina, what a great stop that is, we had a late night and moved the following morning along the coast, sun did come out , we headed for roundstone and parked just out of it. We had a few drinks and a great meal again we moved on in the morning. Then we parked on the sky road with our bbq, the wind didnt help but we managed. Then we went to westport to the carpark off James St, great car park and very quiet, Sunday is FOC x great food in our favorite bar. Then we finally headed for Cong, on our way to Cong we came across a little pier just out of Cornamona, We had a look thought it looked great but wanted to have a look at Cong, as we had not been there before. No where to park unless you want to ram the height barrier !! Mad x A huge carpark which would be empty at night !!
So we drove back to the Pier and parked behind the Galway County Council Building , a stone shed for the water pump im guessing ! and unpacked our table and chairs and relaxed, got a drink and fell asleep. A few people used the small pier for paddling and a local school came for some angling lessons ! about 2 hours later a guy pulled in asking if we ok , Yes we replied Thanks. Are you staying the night again we said yes, which seemed to upset him a bit. He then informed us that it was a comminity pier and part private !! How does that work , He said it was the local water supply. We said we have our own water, then he said how were we going to go for a pee etc !! We have a toilet onboard , again he wasnt happy !! He said there were height barriers , but we drove straight in. there was remains of but not over the road, he then said that he was just letting us know that we may get disturbed about 10pm, Then he said , would we allow people to park in our garden !! Again we said yes we would but I cant see the connection to a pier !! Again he wasnt happy. So with that he left. Now my hubby doesnt like confrontation but I would have waited , but we packed up to leave. I said we should head to the village as we saw a bar on the main street, we went behind it and there was a big , quiet car park. So I went in the bar and asked if it was ok to park our camper overnight if we had a few drinks !! He said fine. He didnt do food so we had the bbq there instead. we went for 3 drinks in the bar but nobody talked to us, so we left after the last drink, we could imagine the locals talking about us !! Next morning we had our breakfast outside on the table and a garda on his motorbike came in for a look but rode off without a word. Some people did look but nothing said.

There Sorry about spelling but got carried away putting the words down, anybody been to that pier then !! What are the laws of piers, Could it be part private and how would we know , there were no signs , anywhere !!

You could also try the pier in Cong, turn right after the castle,, on the road to the campsite, it's a few years since I was there so I don't know what it's like now

There was remains of a height barrier but it was rusty. And NO SIGNS at all about any restrictions either. I think it was nimby syndrome !!

Al piers that are erected on inland lakes we're put there for the purpose of access to those lakes for angling that's why there are no signs I know there does be angling competitions held at that pier on a regular basis which would mean a lot of anglers fishing those competitions would launch there boats there as many as fifty cars boats and boat trailers which take up the whole pier for that day imagine weakening up to be surrounded by that
The guy you were talking to should have explained all of that to you
