Hi Guy's,

Has anyone ever stayed at the Ocean Island In New Ross?
We want to head off on Friday and have a two day away little trip.
We will have Faye who is 9 and of course Penny our disabled dog with us.
Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ken,

She is able to get around bless her. But to be honest very drunk on her back legs and swings left to right. When she is trying to get up the back step about two inches, she has to drag her back legs up, the right is worse than the left. She is not in pain and is happy enough. More of a baby than ever. She had to go to the hair dresser and have a cut so Trisha our dog groomer had no choice but to even her up so she is very bald looking with half an ear shaved etc. We are still doing physio four times a day but she has a lot of muscle wastage on her hind legs. BUT WE STILL LOVE HER and she is not in pain.

She is as we asked 1) pain free 2) able to get around and 3) able to go to the toilet. So result in all those areas. I just don't have a little dog who can run and jump anymore.

Hi Shiv, Ocean Island is actually in Fethard on Sea, at least a half hour drive from New Ross. New Ross is the postal district and that is probably where the confusion comes in. I don't know of any sites in New Ross itself. :sorry:

Thanks knew that but would like to stay in New Ross but if it is not safe then will go onto fethard on sea, sorry for the confusion. Do you know the site? If so what is it like. We might just try and head to the hook if we get out of here tomorrow on time if no luck. Thanks.

Although I've passed the site hundreds of times I've never actually gone in so I can't comment on facilities etc. If you do get down check out the lifeboat memorial beside the playground in the village. You're not too far from Tintern Abbey ,in the opposite direction, and it's worth a visit. Also don't forget Slade, Hook Head lighthouse and Duncannon fort.

Thanks we headed to New Ross on the Friday night and had a fab meal in Eh viola in Irishtown and did the Dunbrody ship tour the following morning before heading to the JFK Park for the afternoon sunshine and then got as far as Duncannon. Stayed in Walsh's for the night (will post a review). Heading back via the ferry this lunch time. Thanks for the help.
