Ive used ADAC for past few years as they were the best VFM, also no age restrictions onm my old Hymer. They contacted me at renewal in May saying they now only offered a limited cover to no german residents. I am waiting calrification on what the limited cover means before I renew wit them. In the mean time I know RAC offer a breakdown for campers and age is not an issue and you can get an online quote. Failing RAC and ADAC Im not sure about others but will follow this thead for other comments.

I use Britania which is a subsidary of LV, not sure about the age of the van bit but they offer full repatriation which is very critical when travelling on mainland europe. I have also used them for the car which we take out to Spain and had to call them out once when the car was parked at Dublin airport, we had a flat battery on returning due to an interior light on and the car park attendant tried to jump start with the terminals mixed on the booster pack and blew a large fuse, out came a local breakdown truck and took us home to Moira so cant fault them.

I use them for both motorhome and car and yes it's for a year. Depending on what you do/did for a living you can get it for £75

Forgot to add it works well, we got repatriated in the 4wd from Dublin airport a couple of years back on the back of a breakdown truck and no charge or penalty for the following year for a claim.

Just renewed with ADAC. Now we have the new EU SEPA system, I could put our bank details on their form and set up a standing order. I like ADAC as good for USA as well as Europe. Haven't had to call them yet, so wondering what it will be like to call them here rather than AA.

This problem comes up time and time again. Up north and in the UK there seems to be at least some companies that will repatriate your van in the event of a major breakdown/accident.......at a price of course. Here in the south we have one company that covers motorhome cover and if something goes wrong they will give you an hour by the roadside and failing this get you to a garage. Now..........I'm not sure what happens if they fail to fix your van, or ( god forbid) your van is undrivable after an accident.
To be honest I've not really thought too much about it. My van is insured I accept the cover I've been given cause I can't get much else. Ok, I've heard of the german company and I'm seriously thinking of looking for a quote for getting my van home if need be,but is it just me or has every one got cover to bring their van home. :-| or do they happily set off to the continent knowing they are legally covered by insurance.....their van is taxed........license is valid.......van is roadworthy, ignorance is bliss :D .

More belt and braces, have the basic cover on the insurance as well as one which will repatriate should the need arise.

Road side rescue, medical support. Google ADAC Plus. Both of us, any vehicle, Europe wide including our bit. They use the AA here. Helicopters in Germany for medical.

Sounds good, but does it get your van home if it's undrivable ?.
Sorry if I'm sounding thick but unfortunately/fortunately I've yet to hear if this policy has brought a van back to Ireland in the event of it being undrivable.

Most euro cover policies only bring your vehicle home if it cannot be repaired before you travel home.
You are responsible for any repair costs incurred. The policy only transports you to the nearest repair centre

Just renewed last week.
Where did you get the info on repatriation Dave?

Not sure if €500 would get us home. I might just keep the extra European cover too n

Hi all. I'm just wondering about ADAC cover - their website says specifically "ADAC membership requires that your place of residence is in Germany." I'm sure there are ways around paying and getting policy documents etc but would it actually be valid for non-Germans if required. There is not much point in having to repatriate my camper to Germany! Has anybody practical experience of this? Thanks.

They are just after billing me here in Ireland for next years cover! Do that only apply to new members? I heard here in the site last year that the cover is reduced but got no notification from ADAC to that effect.
