Hello,

Can anybody tell me if the Glenn Gesh pass (R230) to Ardare is suitable to drive with a large campervan (almost 9 meter) ?
I've read that it is a very scenic route;
Thank you all,
Maripossa

I'm sure someone on here has done it and will advise but always a good idea to take a look on Google Street View. Try to identify the narrow and twisty bits. If you can handle those the rest should be fine.

Looks very doable to me.

Yeah I've gone that way from Glencomcille Kilcar to Ardara in my Adria Vision which is 7 something metres without any problem. It's a beautiful drive but just be careful. As far as I'm aware coaches go that way in the summer.

I too have been on the pass, but being a day van had no difficulties, although I did see coaches and A classes on the route. Beautiful scenery and we'll worth it.

well being born and bred in Donegal I don't think there's anywhere else in the world like it. The Famine Village is well worth a visit too.

Jack, I've been to the famine village at Christmas for the spectacular Santa's village. Doagh island I think it's called.

Have down this many times,my own Motorhome is over 9 meters
Fine going down but wouldn't try going up it done it the once and got stuck
Halfway up but as I say no problems going towards Ardara just use all the road
on descent was over it at Easter no problems ta Barry.

I live near Glengesh. Tour buses do use that road and occasionally do get stuck! I would say it's a lot easier going up it than down, but I use the road regularly, it might be more daunting for someone not used to it. There's a viewing point near the top. You should maybe stop there and let traffic past. Then take your time and make use of all of the road on the two sharp corners. Don't let anyone rush you and don't panic and you'll be fine. There is an even nicer road running sort of parallel to Glengesh called Granny, but if you're wary of Glengesh, maybe you should give this a miss!

Marty being born and bred in Donegal I would give Granny a pass. Did it once with the Motorhome and wasn't all that enjoyable.
