Snipe system

When I sold my last Motorhome I removed the Camos dome to have it fitted to the new one.
When I got the new Motorhome home I realised that it was going to be very tight or impossible to fit the dome due to space.

I sold the dome and thought we just would stick with a digital ariel.

I was in with Simon at leisure technical solutions getting the solar panel fitted and he measured the space. He suggested a new Snipe system. The size is much smaller. Dome was 70cm diameter and 40cm high. The Snipe is 45cm x 31cm x 18cm high.

Getting it fitted on Monday so will know more then.

Here it is

Mark that certainly looks an interesting piece of kit. Will look forward to hearing your take on it when you get it installed.

Hi Mark, I have been looking at this piece of kit for some time your first hand experience and feedback would be very welcome.

Thanks and best of luck.

No probs.

I will post how it compares with the last system once I get a chance to try it out.
I am under no illusions that the range will not be fantastic due to recent footprint changes. It should work within Ireland and UK and that will do the job.

It is possible to carry it in the case and set it outside for use when required.

OK.

I got the Snipe system fitted today by Simon at Leisure Technical Solutions.

Even though there was a problem with the Motorhome head unit (which is an Auto Trail problem) it is fitted and running well.
It seems to be a great job. Finds the satellite fast and looks much smaller on the roof than I thought it would.

Same here, always wash it, fill it with Diesel and Water and it is ready to go.
I polish it once a year before we go to France.

Mine is off to Tattersals for the weekend to the three day event (horses) so no way I would bother to wash it this weekend. My dad is taking it for the first time and he is like a kid at christmas. Not sure if that is because one of his horses is coming over from the Uk to compete or the fact that he has somewhere to stay on site for the whole weekend. Bless him ....goooooo pops!

Snipe worked well at the weekend. It finds satellites fast and is very quiet.
It can hardly be seen unless you are quite a bit away from the van.

France info.

Although we have not had much need to watch TV (too hot) the Snipe system has worked well to south of bordeaux.

We have managed to get a few channels on the south coast too but none of the main ones.
So, even though it is small and neat it seems to work as well as about a 80 cm standard dish.

Brilliant system then, I forget the last time I put the dish up as I can't be bothered with it.

I hate the TV and ours came with one sorry to say. I would take it out if I had my way ...sorry prefer the radio or a good book.
But for those who do like their telly and each to their own it looks very neat indeed.

I am not familiar with the snipe system, how do it differ from traditional dishes? Do you need wifi?

Hi Mark, I have recently bought a Snipe system and had it away this weekend in Westport. Snipe worked fine finding the satellite but seemed to lose the signal after a while, no signal came up on the screen. Might be something that I am doing wrong but though I would ask to see if you had the same problem?

I haven't had that problem.
When ours says no signal on the screen I think it means there is no signal between the receiver and the screen.

It would do that if your receiver goes to standby after a few hours.

Could that be it?
If so just click the power button on the receiver remote.
