Was it national "Use your Motorhome" day yesterday ?

Came through Northern Ireland from Aughnacloy to Strabane yesterday afternoon and saw more motorhomes than I've seen in a long time. Every lay-by had 2 or 3 parked up, and we seemed to be in traffic behind some and meeting some all through Northern Ireland.

We were in our MH as well, but just heading home after a days racing in Ardee !

What event was on ? What did we miss ?

NW200 and a load probably from MCCNI as they have their national rally on soon.

The national MCC rally is on this weekend at Balmoral Park so there are a lot of motorhomes over from the mainland.

144 motorhomes in portrush for mccni rally
50 vans in dungannon for mccni rally

mccni pre national rally at bready cricket club this week
national rally for mcc in maze near lisburn with over a thousand vans expected this weekend

60 vans from wales are over for six weeks and have toured ireland before meeting up for mccni rally and national

most using craic for info !!

I guess there were up to 800 vans in Portrush/Portstewart over this weekend. 11/2 hrs queue to get into school on Frid evening, what a spectacle to see and very few in Caravan parks. :up: :up:

Ah, I see. That makes sense. I did notice a lot of UK reg's and a few with toads.

Well did you know that according to the RUAS that motorhomes are not allowed at Balmoral Park as it is a politically sensitive site, they actually put that in an email to my wife when she enquired about staying overnight in a motorhome for the Balmoral Show, (not for us but some freinds from England). You just couldn't make it up considering the rally is on this weekend!

I have asked Angela to send it on to me, but she keeps forgetting, I will get it eventually.

They dont mean the the motorhomes are politically sensitive, its the location of Blamoral Park and its previous history. I am not sure if the RUAS own the site or if it belongs to the DRD and is rented/leased to them, but in trying to increase tourism they are turning it away and being made out to be foolish with the event there this weekend.
