Hi Paddyx ,

An alarm wont be much good in remote areas, there is one fitted to my van and when it goes off its not very loud.So maybe a more secure locking system, like fitting Fimma door lock.

Maybe a tracking system would be better.
There are a few out there now which seem well priced.

What type of camper do you have?
Are you looking for something that will draw attention if somebody gets in to rob your stuff or something that will stop them driving away in it?

Should be relatively hard to drive away with as it's modern. If you are getting an alarm make sure the control box, fuse, wires and siren are all hidden well. A siren with an independent battery would be a good idea too. Very often fitters leave them very easy to find and they could be disabled in seconds.

On our old Transit I fitted an alarm, steering lock and 2 hidden kill switches. The older vans are so easy to steal, a few layers of security is a must to slow down a determined thief! I also got a cheap safe from Aldi and mounted it to the body, handy for phones, documents etc

Hagans have started selling "Minders", you place it in your van and if it detects movement it rings and text's your phone.

Is that all it will do? It's not much use if you get a Text and you are half an hour away.
Can a siren or camera be connected to it ? Can wind rocking the van activate it or is it activated if a beam is broken?

Not sure about a siren, does anyone on hearing a siren ring the police anyhow? or simply say "there's a siren going off" if you get a call you could ring a friend who is closer, ring the police or send up a heat seeking missile. :)

Paddyx said he wouldn't be to far away. It uses a beam so wind won't affect it.

I fitted an alarm to mine and also a personal tracker
The alarm makes on hell of a racket and sets off the lights flashing which is pretty hard miss if it is being driven along will admit however it was a sod to fit
The tracker is a simple unit that you send a message to and it sends a message back with coordinates

Also have a locking steering wheel camp I believe in belt and braces

The guy that gets away with your Motorhome uncaught deserves to keep it with all that security.
