Hello,

Within a few weeks we are travelling to Ireland.
We like to visit the Titanic shipyard and experience center , also a Black taxi tour is something we would like to do.
I've heard that there is a camperplace at the shipyard ,is this correct and is this a safe place?
Is it beter to go on camping nearby and use a bus or is there a connection to Belfast from Shanogue house with public transport?
Thanks to all off you,
Maripossa

Not sure on a camper place at the shipyard, maybe someone else knows?

If you visit Shanogue we will drive you to the train/bus station which is approx 5 miles away.

Never heard of a campsite at the titanic, the closest one would be Loughshore at Jordanstown or possibly Dundonald.

Thank you Ally for your offer.
Coming to Shanogue was already planned in our road book.

It would be a good idea, but I can't see Belfast City council having the foresight and, with land prices, it wouldn't be viable for private individual. Must admit, if there was one, we'd use it. It would be great to setup, go for a meal/see a show, have drinks and then walk back and sleep in the motorhome.

There is the potential for one, the old SeaCat terminal car park near the obel building. It's lying empty and locked up.

FC I've already talked to a guy from the City Hall about that site and they have no control over it. It belongs to the Harbour Commissioners and it's unlikely that they will use it for anything else. I was thinking that Property Developers has lots of land vacant and that might be an avenue to explore.

Property developers over the last few years lost control over land banks as they went bust, so it would be controlled by either a bank or the investment firm which bought all the Nama portfolio.

The harbour commissioners may be receptive to an idea as it's not exactly ground which can have a lot done with it.

Yes, some boat owners use belfast marina for a night out. It's cheaper than a taxi home.
