Pretty damn good to be honest. Only problem is - where we've been this weekend (*Charyn Canyon Kazakhstan/China border - aka Valley of Castles or Asian Grand Canyon) we have no RV - that's at home in the rain......
High 30''s - well over 40 in the canyon. Dry as a bone. "You could fry an egg on a rock...... If you had an egg...."
Yep. I absolutely love that car. Bought it brand new a few weeks ago for the price of a Landrover large service at home.... Put a few bits on it for playing in the mountains around here! Serious fun and AMAZING 4wd abilities!
Biggest car factory on the planet. Hasn't changed it's fundamental design since 1977 - that's it's beauty. Parts no problem!
Actually, I'm seriously considering (and have started lines of communication) importing them to Ireland again. 91 was the last time they came in. Sell through an agri network of dealers. There has to be a market for a sub 10k€ tank that you can have a 10 year old boy child service it and you can wash the interior out with a power hose!

That sounds great, best of luck with it

The biggest hurdle you will have is getting them certified as they probably don't pass emissions regulations in the EU. One of the big dealers here got caught with Tata Safari's a few years ago when the date for a certain emission value passed and they could not then register them here, ended up selling them to a charity organisation for use in Africa.

Excellent point John. Where as I've said the fundamental design has not changed I really meant in the shell, running gear and design, the engine is a new plant introduced in 2012. It's a 1.7 litre injection petrol or indeed you can order (if numbers are high) the 1.6 hdi engine made by Peugeot, so emissions are now, not an issue. They are being reimported into England since last year. The biggest issue I feel I will have is they will not manufacture it in RHD. I'm hoping for the intended target market this won't matter when spending most of their time in fields.
It's the only 4x4 manufactured in the world that you can specify a PTO and a snow plough on the spec sheet.
Again, sorry for the thread hijack, Ken.

We are looking to possibly buy a lhd for Spain but the price is the main issue, now those may fit the bill. Can we register from new a lhd in either uk or Ireland, does anyone know.

I had a few lhd personal imports that were registered new in the UK. The only thing that they done was to register them 1st January of that year even though they were registered in August for example.

They were registered on the mainland, I bought them second, third hand, so wasn't involved in the registration.

If Farming is your target I don't think you will not sell many. LHD is my first choice with the Motorhome as I always have a co pilot and I am sitting up high so overtaking other vehicles is not a problem. However when I am driving the Trooper I am nearly always alone and say if it was LHD and I wanted to overtake a tractor and Silage trailer on a Country lane, I would have the whole vehicle at the wrong side of the road before I could see if it was safe to overtake. Further to this no one is going to burn white diesel to do field work, the only field work I do is count a few cattle or the odd bit of Fencing.
I'm a farmer myself (retired lol) It's not a piece of agricultural machinery! It's a jeep that's 1250 kg's but has an extra ordinary 4wd system so goes over everything instead of bogged down in it! There's defo an agri market for these, as there is a pony club market, as there is a city hipster market when they're dressed up!
One can only try their best, Pat!!!

I know they are highly rated for their 4x4 capabilities, John!
But their towing capacity would be useless for me, I need something that can move the mini digger to an outside farm or take 5 cows in the trailer. They would suit your suggested markets ok.
Ah I know Pat. It had its limitations for sure, you've pointed out a few of them. But I'd never see it replace a LR, Teooper or Land Cruiser - complement
one maybe - the farmers wife's machine for going to the shops! Lolol
I think there's an urban market too when they're dolled up! Radio station PR teams etc.
All of my thoughts are based on them selling for under €10k remember!
Who knows?!? Hopefully ill get a chance at it!

Only thing we need to add to the fee is the VAT as its coming from a non EU country
