Askeaton Aire.

Have you used it in a while? Have you had any problems or has it been great?

I have received a PM from a concerned Motorhomer and I am just wondering what your views on the Aire are if you have used it in the past?

Have called in many times but never stayed just get that certain feeling
From it usually head down to Foynes and stay there.Nothing bad has ever
Happened me but just don't think I'd get a good nights sleep, swimming pool
Looks well run and is modern.Never been another M'home there when I've visited
Or mite have overnighted. Our cousins live nearby and would think the younger generation
In the area Wouldn't have much to do so you mite end up being an attraction for them..

We stayed for on night last year.
I agree that it isn't a great location but it was fine.

There is play park and green area beside the carpark. There were young teenagers playing in the evening and they were very pleasant. I heard one telling the others not to annoy the people in the motorhomes.

Johneen and Liz had a swim in the pool in the evening and myself next morning. Staff were great and gave a reduction because we were in the motorhomes.

We pulled in one evening a couple of years ago. It was a fine summer evening and after a while a gang of teenagers arrived. Started jumping into the river etc. In fairness they didn't cause us any hassle. Were just doing their thing. We weren't sure how long they might stay around and since its hard get kids to sleep if there is a lot of noise outside we decided to head for Foynes.

Came back the next day to use the facilities. There was another camper there and they commented on the teenagers but said they had a very peaceful night. We used the pool which was good and I think we may have gotten a discount.

FYI we really enjoyed they Flying Boat Museum in Foynes.

Anyone know if overnight parking isn't possible here anymore?
I read the following off a Motorhome club site.......

Askeaton Co. Limerick has now been designated as a service point only.
No overnight parking.

The handiest way to find out is to ring the swimming pool, in whose car park the service stop is located.
Their number is 061392570.
As said in posts above Askeaton has some of an ethnic minority living there and also rathkeale is quite near and there would be a lot of said ethnic minority who have come home to rathkeale at Christmas coming down to use the swimming pool jacuzzi, showers etc
So the designation as service point rather than overnight could be a "seasonal" thing.

Agree, I don't think I would ever stay there as it is too near home, I just saw it was closed for overnight parking on some site I was browsing lately and if it is maybe it should be amended on the parking app.

I passed the car park in question tonight at 21.30.
The gates of the car park were open so I would imagine that there is no problem.

Called for a service stop today. Funny setup with the service point - there’s about 6 inches between the cassette flush tap and the drinking water tap on the same side of the bollard. The cassette dump point is on the other side of the bollard alright. Decided against getting drinking water there!

There were 2 uk reg vans parked up. The area looked clean & tidy, but tight enough spaces for the larger of the 2 vans. Maybe best to arrive late and away early if you’re in a longer unit.
