It is getting to the time of year where many of us are planning a trip onto mainland Europe and especially France. With this in mind I have been looking at the reviews section to find an Aire or two which members recommend.

I see a few new reviews but I am sure anyone who has travelled to France has something to say about places they have stayed. Why not add a review today? It could assist other members. Ally has gone to the bother of setting up this worthwhile facility. He cannot add French reviews as he doesn't go to France. It is up to the rest of us to keep adding.

If you are traveling to France soon why not take a small notebook and make a few basic nots about the Aire or campsite you are staying on, take a photo or two and add it to the review section. I hope to do it from anywhere we stay this year while I am there. (Wifi permitting)

It doesn't take much time and will benefit others. If everyone traveling to France this summer wrote two reviews on their return we would have a great selection for 2015.

A big thanks to those members who have already made the effort to write reviews.

Rant over!

 Can I just add that some will use various books and guides not everyone does so the information whether good or bad is not available to everyone. You never know your review could encourage the like of Ally to make the journey to mainland Europe.

I'm sure France is great and maybe one day, but we are very happy touring Ireland and GB and visiting as many music festivals as we can. It is after all the reason we bought the MH in the first place.

Be excellent to get a load of french reviews for our members that do visit and that seems quite a few of you.

Maybe I should add a festival review section :)

Thats what a pool is for, its only an hour away from my place.

When out there in July and August you live outside not inside and the awning is to keep the sun off you, unlike here where it keeps the water off and you live inside your van.

Not worth the money to bring the MH and I would want too, to far away and too expensive with boat travel and diesel. No way would I do it in a tent, far to hot and hotel prices would be to high.

Good idea Ally.
Back on topic.

Has anyone any ideas how they will do their reviews this year?
i.e. Notebook at the time and online on return home or live from the location ?

Would really depend on internet access, but the note book is how we normally do things while on the move.

Hi Taylor,

We have stayed a couple of times at Le Crosic which is about 30 Km west of sainte Nazaire.
There is a lovely aire on the harbour (about 5 vans approx. 7 euro) no services but a great location beside a lovely harbour and right in the town. There are several other serviced aires nearby, closest 400 m away at station. Free wifi at tourist office and several café/pubs.

This area is famous for its salt pans, great for exploring on bikes, and a few Km away is Guerande which is a walled town full of salt shops (worth a visit). There is an aire there also but it is just open ground but free.

All in 'all the aires book'

Sorry Mark. you have pricked my conscience !! I have been meaning for ages to put a few reviews up. I shall do the decent thing.

We are off to France for June so I shall do my homework. Reminds me of my school reports, 'must try harder', or 'all out effort required before June', and my favourite, 'its nice to have him about the school!'
