Just found this on the Tribute forum something new for me UK council being helpful

Torridge area, excellent overnight stops £5
Just returned from this area and had some great stopovers provided by this forward looking council. You can park all day for £3 and overnight 6 to 10 for £5.
The car parks in the scheme are excellently placed. In Bideford, at the end of the Quay car park, next to the river and 5 minutes walk from the town and all it has to offer. In Westward Ho!, right on the pebble ridge near the slip way to the beach, or in the village itself. Appledore, again in the quayside car park near the Seagate hotel, with excellent views over to Instow.
There are other spots in the councils area which I have not seen but I think we should congratulate this council for such an excellent provision. The parking is limited to 2 nights in each spot and all are near public toilets. The area is a top holiday spot and even before Easter I was enjoying fantastic weather.
So I would encourage fellow tribbys to enjoy these fabulous, scenic, North Devon towns and avoid those areas that don't want us as in South Devon.
Unquote.
Thought might be useful if anybody thing of going that way
