Back Box

Coming over in 6 days and now! considering fitting a back box but never had any experience of them.
New they cost a b fortune but as my van is small cant fit a bigger version am still considering but looking for a second hand one (or pre-owned if you talk to dealers) and there are a few on E-Bay.

I am guessing that quite of few of you have them so what do you think,
Are they waterproof (It seems that the Fiamma Cargo bag is NOT but may have as a lot cheaper)
Does anybody have or use an alternative bag or box if so what.
Left it late of course but never was organised and useless and deciding

John
Thanks for the suggestion
Did consider a roof box have looked at a few but as it would be "on its side" on the bike rack it wouldn't work for quite a few reasons.

I was thinking more of the roof than the bike rack

Why not get some sort of lockable box and bungee it to the bike rack or do attach it once you have stopped to get it out of the van

I think you might be guessing wrong. There are a rare enough sight in my experience. I've seen the very odd one usually on a foreign reg. I've seen pictures of custom made ones but never seen one in these here parts.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Can't remember where I see this but it was a canvas one which has ply inside and comes flat so when you put the 4 sides up it can be strapped to your bike rack I think it was eBay I'll try and find it again

Paul
Thanks for the offer but the problem with the model of Tribute I have is that the ladder is c**p unless you weight about 6 stone.
It is simply Screwed through single skin back door and even though I have put plates behind it I would not trust it to climb up in fact have seem several reports of people bending the backdoors when climbing up. Keep meaning to take it off but then I would have either more holes to deal with or spend on a new ladder that will take my weight, hence a back box.
The Roof rack is also only for show and moves around as it is only held on with 4 self taps at each end. Took this off a couple weeks ago as it was letting water thro the Screw Holes and the power coating was all flaking off
One good thing at the moment it does mean that we carry only about half the stuff as compared to what we take when we use the Caravan, so if I dont find one in the next couple of days non daily use items tend to get left at home
thanks again

David

They are a very good firm. I've bought a few things from them and found them very efficient.
