Batteries and reversing cameras

Hi All
I need advice.

My battery has died... Had to get the AA to start me on Sunday. Drove 30 miles home. Parked up and the immediately tried to restart... Completely dead. Had a charger on for 24hrs still nothing. Where's the best place to buy?

The leisure battery does not seem to hold the charge very well... Only running lights and the power level indicators drop off quickly. Is this battery done too?

Finally my reversing camera stopped working. I think it might be a fuse what with all the messing with the batteries, I've hunted but can't find the bugger.

Adding a degree of stress and expense to my camping life.

All help and advice appreciated
C

We had the same plight as yourself two years ago when both battery's died with in weeks of each other. We got the engine battery from our local motor factors and we bought the leisure battery in a hurry before we went to France from Halfords, this had a two year Guarantee, however in less than twelve months this died too, to make a long story short I couldn't find the receipt and chanced taking it back and with out any questions they lobbed another new one up on the counter and gave me a further two years Guarantee. I have a feeling that they are used to taking them back but fair play to them.

Are the batteries dead or is the alternator and on board charger not working, take them out and charge them and then have them tested just in case.

Thanks for these comments. The AA mechanic said, "If this was my vehicle, I'd put a new battery in her." He said that it looked like the alternator was okay. I've had the engine battery on the charger for 12 hours and it's still showing no power.
Any advice on the reversing camera?
Thanks

Hi Ciaran. Check to see if your reversing lights are working and if they are the fuse will be ok ,that is if the power is coming from reversing lights that is. otherwise it is probably the dead batteries. If your stuck give me a ring and I will do my best to help you. Cheers. Willie.

The reversing light switches fail quite often on the 03 onwards Ducatos.

Yes - Hessy's reversing switch did stop working and when i replaced the swithc, it still is knackered.
I think it is the earth and i couldnt find it, as the step beeper is also not working, i am of the opinion that both are run of the same feed or earth. Any one know is this the case? :-|

I ran two sets of lights under her sides and back end operated by a lit toggle switch on the dash when required and they are a good job.

I retrofitted a reversing camera out throught the leisure batttery breathing holes and under the carpets into the dash. I stuck in a switch beside the new reversing light switch to operate and mounted the screen above the stereo. Its great and worth it as i like to see whats behind me and just leave it on when driving. :-)

Hope you get it sorted
