RV - Help!

Hi All

cannot believe this my first post and I having to ask for help!!!.
Bought my first motorhome last month in the UK, a Windsport 32A 2011, and yes it was one of a learnering curve driving it from Norfolk at night. So this last weekend getting to know its systems and the like and have managed to get the lounge slide out and it wont go back. Dont think the motor has tripped, but it was not tracking back correctly before it stopped completly.
Manual says its possible to disconnect motors and push back :'( , but If I can't sort am going to have to call out a techi to sort me out.
So can anybody recommend service company with experience in RV's ? I am currently (stuck) basedin Kildare!.

regards Bob

Chances are, if the motors can't bring it back in, you wont be able to push it back by hand.

I'm wondering is there a wheel after popping out of a guide rail? Is it possible to life the skirt underneath and see the rails? Are the motors making any noise when you push the in or out button?

Can you hear the motor labouring to try suck it back in or is it silent?

Deciding if it's a mechanical or electrical problem is the first thing to establish. Can you call the previous owner. There is often safety a sequence to go through before it will retract. Not to offend but are you doing it correctly?

Without knowing the type of system it's hard to advise, you should have a manual retraction method. If the slide was too tight, the shear pin may have gone, it's meant to break to stop the motor burning out. Call the vendor, if it's a dealer he should know. I strongly advise you join RVOC all American RV forum, someone on there will know exactly what to do as one of them will have had the same problem. I'd a problem with my bedroom slide, turned out to be a bolt that had worked loose and was jamming the mech. Sorry I can't be more help but, we need more info.

Guys - thanks for thr response.

Motor was certainly labouring on the way back in, with one side stopping at half way which I guess caught up on something internally. Real pain coss cannot get to see or get at workings easily.

Operationally, truck is level and in the past couple in weeks has been in and out with no probs

Going to get out and have another look tonight

Which slide is it bed or lounge? You should be able to remove a small cover to give you access to the drive shaft then get a socket on the end to turn it ,there should be a way to disconnect the motors..Is it trying to move or is it silent ie: fuse blown or tripped the breaker? I've 3 slides 2 have 2 motors 1 has 1, they all use a toothed shaft pushed in or out by a cog on the motors. Sorry I can't be more help, lots of variables. Look at the make of slide, the manufacturers usually have good info on their websites. As I said, look on the RVOC forum. Good luck, let us know.

Hey Bob, put the word out with other rvers, is it in park, daft question but, some won't move if it's not. Do you have the owners pack, it should have a section on the slides and how trouble shoot any problems. Let us know.

Guys

Got hold of Thor agents, Signature Motorhomes in the UK and they went out of the way trouble shooting over the phone. Took 15 mins to locate the slide controller which can be any where depending on floor plan!.
Now know where motors are located and how to get at them. Need to do some checks on the controler with resets to check motor OK. On the road tomorrow so wont be able to get to it until Friday, but now feeling happier at least knowing how to get at working bits.
Thanks for suggestions PaulH, yep in park and the manual is a joke, technically!

That's great news as I hate not knowing the workings.

Don't forget, also, the drivers seat has to be max forward on some. It does for mine for the kitchen slide to operate.

Hi Bob,

Thinking of buying a 2011 Windsport 32a also. Can you give me any advice. Would love to know how you find it and if there are any things to watch out for.

Many thanks.
