Hi all, we"re going to go a bit further this year as we usually stick to the Vendee, (Sables D"Olonne, St Jean de Monts etc) does anyone know much about the Biscarrosse, Landes area ? I"ve booked "La Rive" for a couple of weeks but, we like to visit villages etc and it looks a bit isolated, any one been there ? Thanks.

We have been to Biscarrose plage a few times.

Nice area. I would suggest that you don't pull off the road in your wagon Paul. The whole Landes region is very sandy and verges are soft.
Use the car to explore.

The biggest sand dune in Europe is a great day out. Take a paragliding lesson from the top of it.

Thanks Mark, I'll certainly not go off roading in the RV!! I was wondering about local towns, we like to mooch around, are they worth a look? I definitely want to see the dune, the biggest in Europe I believe.

LOL. I didn't think you would. I was meaning the parking areas at road sides along that part of the coast. We have seen several motorhomes the size of our stuck. I even saw a 4x4 pickup get stuck while trying to pull a motorhome out of soft sandy ground at a picnic area.

hi PaulH,
been all along that coast from Point de medoc (at mouth of Gironde) the whole way to Bidart a few times. It is well worth the trip. Its the most civilised in terms of traffic volumes in high summer due to the sheer expanse of the area and the number of options. The beaches are big and numerous. In terms of town most are beach orientated and are dead most of the year but come alive in July and August. Soulac is our favourite and has a lovely atmosphere as well as a great free area used by many RV's of all sizes and MH's just at the northern edge of Soulac. There are many many miles of bike track along that coast also if interested. The climate is great with great sun and moderately cool nights. You can cross the Gironde by small 30min ferry from Royan and Blaye which cuts out the drive down to Bordeaux and then back tracking but you would need to check the weight limit (I have seen lorries on it though).

I think you need two warning triangles and a spare bulb kit for all external bulbs also if you are bringing bikes on the back which I would advise you to, you need a square reflector. Acsi books are very good if you are staying on sites off season as great discount to be had.

Celticlink don't send you tickets …. at least they didn't the twice we travelled with them last year... I usually just print the confirmation reservation sheet with reservation number …. then your away.

ASCI discount book/ card is a must & worth its weight in gold, if you've a pet don't forget their passport/ stamps etc

Would be interested in the ADAC phone number also & would be interested to hear what is the cost/ benefits.

Were heading for the month of June almost…. when are you heading off?

You know you can stay in the designated MH car park at Disney or we have the details of a great site we stayed at last July, 20mins from Disney (closest campsite). Car park is €30 per night, you have to pay that anyway to park the MH so you may as well get what you paid for. The €30 covers you from when you park until the following morning. Let me know if you want more details.

Thanks Hymer 55, definitely going that way so, we're looking forward to it. Copperman, we've used camping Jablines a couple of times, fantastic site on a lake with it's own sandy beaches and a bus for Disney every hour, it's about 20 minutes away . I'd not be too keen on the acres of tarmac at Disney itself.

Copperman, for Jablines just look on the Internet, it'll pop up pretty quickly. It's a great site, fully serviced pitches, it's own beaches on the lake and good on site shop. Can't remember their names but, the people that manage the site were very helpful and friendly.
