Timming Belt

Hi guys thanks for all the help on the sealant so now next issue...Have a LHD Fiat ducato 2.8jtd Coach build. 2002 reg (imported from France ~I think originally). It has 54K km on the clock. As far as I know it has never had the timming belt Changed..so

1. Is it time to now get the belt done
2. should I get water pump changed also
3. any idea of costs
4. Any one recommned someone relaible in the kerry / cork region to do this?

1. Yes 12 years 50k it's served you well, time to replace.
2. Yes Water pump, idler arms, bearings etc. Full kit, don't cut corners.
3. No, but it shouldn't be far off the cost of changing the timing belt on a car or van (€500-€1000). I guess it all depends on how much has to be removed to actually get at the timing belt assembly.
4. Do you have a local mechanic?

I cant say it better than Blag has ,re cost i just got a Skoda Octavia done for €320 and i dont think a Ducato would be much more expensive than that as the engine is easy to work on so labour costs not too high

That's a great price for a timing belt change. Did that include the full parts kit?

Got the belt including pump and idler pulley , full service ,2 rear slave brake cylinders and habitation test two years ago. Cost over 800 euro for 2.3 jtd Ducato

Thanks guys for all the help...No guys I dont have a local mechanic..the motorhome was my dads...I dont have a local mechanic that I know...so thats why I was looking for advice for the cork/kerry region..someone that would do the work well and would not rip off someone who know v little about it all
