We entrust our Motorhome to John Lenihan and his staff on a yearly basis for the service, and they are excellent there, very honest regarding prices. We didnt purchase our bus from them but they care for it like its their own.

Jetty you are fortunate that you have a dealer like that. I tried to get my Adria serviced with the Adria dealer up here and even thought he wasn't the Adsria agent when I bought mine he politely told me where to go to. Fortunately Simon at TLS services mine and if I've problem before the warranty is up I'll go all the way with it as Simon is excellent.

Cara Motorhomes

When we purchased our motorhome in 2007 from a supposed very reliable dealer in Munster, we were green horns. The motorhome was just 4years old when we bought it for a over 40,000. We were told that everything was checked out before we bought it. The mechanic had everything checked, gone through, it had spent 2 days in the garage and we as we thought got it in tip top shape, as u would expect for a 4yr old motorhome.
Anyway to make a very long story short, the house battery gave up after just 2 months. We returned it to the dealer, who were very surprised, and they replaced the battery. My brother is a mechanic, and was looking at the battery after it being replaced, and he said there should have been a narrow hose put in place from the battery to underneath of the van. This is something to do with the type of battery that was installed.

That was kind of maddening that the dealer could not do this. After another few weeks, the heating stopped working. I was so mad about this that i then contacted John Lenihan and basically asked him would he take us on and check out the motorhome and give us advice on it. We were told that the heating system was clogged up with dust, looked like it had been driven in the continent and had not been "in the garage" getting checked out for 2 days prior to buying it.
Cara motorhomes fixed the heating system, and since then we have not looked back. But always feel hard done by, but now hoping to trade in our bus and make a new start. Its hard to take when u spend so much money on a Motorhome of your dreams, and at times feel we just got caught. The only thing that saved us was that we got a good brand of Motorhome, and it was well maintained by Cara. Thats my moan for tonight  :'(
ps. I would love to mention who we bought it from but wouldnt be so cheeky, cause i see good reviews on them in an earlier piece...

Good to hear you got sorted by cara in the end,

Not wanting to name and shame is your choice  ......but at least give us a clue

A county would nearly do as it's easy enough to narrow it down from there

Name and shame it might help someone else and yes I agree we all spend a lot of money to have our MH's and we would like to think that this site helps us to make informed decisions about our purchases, service and such. I may get shot down for this but that is what I think. One swallow does not make a summer but it is still nice to know if there is one around. Let people know and make up their own minds. ?????
Am I off the mark?

I don't think it is fair to Name and shame this Dealer, He replaced the Battery for you when you went back to him, Did you not go back to him or her to fix the heating system? if not , nobody is going to dismantle a heating system looking for dust in a Pre Delivery Inspection. Now if he refused to repair the heating system that is a different matter. Just remember many Motorhome owners bought brand new Vans and had much bigger issues than dust in their pipes. I dont have any alliance with any Motorhome dealers, I bought our Motorhome privately.

Hi Jetty,

I had major problems with a new van I bought it was on going for 2 year's(even sent an engineer from France to try and solve it) the dealer bent over backwards to help but been a Monday morning van it never went anywhere without trouble.
I solved it myself before the warranty expired I traded it in and bought a different make van.

PS the dealer I bought the van from was cara moterhomes.

Yes, I think we should think twice before we name and shame anyone on the net, Many Motorhome Dealers are family run business's operating in tough times and only trying to make a living like the rest of us. If we name and shame them we will do a lot of damage to their business and they don't get a chance to defend themselves, Remember there are two sides to every story. Also we destroy our chances of getting a Motorhomecraic group Discount from them, They might be in opposition to each other but they do talk to each other. Just my View, what do ye think?

Vote with your feet, there will always be others who would be glad of the business and do a better job than you received.

After a break in to our Dethletts motorhome,we needed a replacement door and frame. Ordered from another dealer and after twelve weeks delay and several phone calls no sign of parts. I contacted Cara and they supplied the door and frame in 2 weeks. If i need Dethletts parts again I will use Cara.
