Top front cabin window for Hymer

Hello, our over the front cabin lhs window was blown off last summer in France when we forgot to close it. We priced a replacement (about 360) and have not asked about cost of fitting etc yet. Is there a depot anywhere for second hand motorhome "stuff". Currently it is boarded up ; I have thought of getting heavy duty perspex and fitting it ourselves. However this would mean that it could not be opened and the window on the other side cannot be opened either. Alternatively we could go thru the insurance - they said that our premium would go up approx 150. Any advice - we are a family of 6 and looking at cost of getting to France we are trying to keep our costs as low as possible. Thanks in advance.

If you fill in your location on your profile members could advise better. See my signature for a link on how to do that.

Be careful if you use perspex as this will not pass the DOE unless it is up to safety standard. See page 3 of this link.
