Loads of evidence coming out now that Saturated Fat is NOT bad for you in fact quite the opposite. Those with high cholesterol are increasing it by eating low fat foods. When they should be eating Saturated Fats and avoiding low fat foods that contain lots of sugar.

As someone who has very high cholesterol I think it's time to change my diet.

The big great Myth from the 70's? two of many many articles now appearing...

I may be fat and borderline diabetic but my cholesterol has baffled my doctor and dietician as its in the middle of the normal range. I don't do the low fat food thing, I use real dairy butter and apply it to my toast etc as thick as cheese. We all consume too many highly processed foods which are produced to a price eg bread, which contains more water and chemicals to stop it going mouldy and about 1/3 less flour than they did 20 years ago.

Bummer........the dreaded word. Few places to hide and this site was one of them. 🇧🇭
I've been on statins for nearly a year and am giving up..........because the aches and pains plus other things ..........the constant articles,( Sunday express, last Sunday) and the flipping price of a months supplyis crippling. Hope to bring it down by change of diet, exercise and stay away from processed food ...cakes..biscuits and my beloved chocolate, although I'm told dark chocolate is allowed.....moderately. :D

Ok guys and gals........this is a motorhome/ camper site..........isn't it :'(

I have been on them for a number of years, Cholsterol still high, had the aches and pains and they changed them to.. and I quote "More expensive ones you get after you take a heart attack" but they gave them to me anyhow. They helped but I do take a smaller dose.

Seems more and more evidence around that it is not Saturated fat causing high cholesterol and it can indeed reduce it. It seems sugar is the main culprit and is quite foreign and the body attacks it.

Now boys be serious if you have aches and pains on your statin then go and talk to your GP there are several to choose from and they vary in side effects, most are now gone generic and ask your GP to prescribe you one of those. Cholesterol is a silent killer and it can cause you to have a stroke or a heart attack so please consult your GP before coming off any medication. If you can reduce your cholesterol with diet and exercise then fine but do it under medical supervision! No laughing matter!
Rant over.

They may have been like something on a bush tucker trial

What makes the shell black, is it just the breed or is it the type of food they eat?

Had a few chickens at one time, well more than a few! used to sell them as egg layers for people wanting eggs. Usually sold three hens that layed different coloured eggs so you knew which hens were laying and which needed to go for the Sunday roast. Usually white, Brown and Blue.

WHAT'S GOOD AND WHAT'S NOT

Eggs
We were once told to eat no more than two a week. Now eggs look like the most all-round nutritious food you can eat, so there's no need to limit them.

Butter
The first generation margarine-type spreads turned out to be heart-stoppers, which makes it hard to trust anything the marge industry says. You're safer with good old butter.

Red meat
Processed red meat that's stiff with additives is to be avoided, but meat from free-range, grass-fed cattle is a rich source of conjugated linoleic acid, which reduces our risk of cancer, obesity, and diabetes.

Salt
Processed foods are loaded with the stuff to make them palatable but there's no evidence that salt added in judicious amounts in home cooking is a health problem.

Sugar
Sugar and sweeteners in all forms are best reduced/avoided. Accustom your palate to a less sweet taste.
