TV Audio advice

this isnt for the motorhome directly but it could be....

My mum who is 83 and as deaf as a post cant hear her tv even with it turned up full blast so I had thought about placing a set of pc speakers beside her to give her a chance of hearing it without annoying the neighbours, but! how far can you run a cable on a jack plug, I only need to go about 12-15 feet is that possible with either an extension lead or replacing the cable altogether.

A surround sound system is not an option as she can hardly work the tv remote without adding loads of extra buttons and options

That distance is perfectly fine, I have ran longer distances. You could probably buy a longer cable here:

Would a comfortable pair of earphones work for her :-|
Perhaps Bluetooth wireless ones to avoid trailing cables around the room

as drifter says, maybe headphones would work, you can also get Bluetooth remote speakers but need to check your TV can accommodate Bluetooth.

You could get a bluetooth transmitter from Red and White phono/audio plugs on the TV if it has them and bluetooth to speakers or headphones or an AMP :)

It has to be kept simple and bluetooth would work but too complicated, I cant see her wearing headphones as she wont wear her hearing aid ffs. The speaker and cable is the simplest solution with a knob to turn it off/up/down right beside where she sits. I will get an extension lead and try it out at home first as I have the same tv in one of the rooms.

Yeah it's only when they are gone from us that we realise the sacrifices they made for us.

I got her a new dvd player as she said the old one was broken as there was no sound, plugged the new one in and she still couldnt hear it, but at least the new one has a remote control. Thought about the subtitles but she says she doesnt want to read a movie

It's well seeing there are no accents via type ;) - it would get very confusing around here :)
