Van aerial disease

when I went out to take the van for a run today I noticed that the roof mounted boomerang aerial was missing from the van. On closer inspection the fibreglass shank was snapped of and the wire was hanging out. My first thought was that some Clint had snapped it off during the night, but there were no sign of footprints on the dirty front bumper. I searched the garden but no sign of it. The neighbours kid had been playing football up against their side of our fence that the van is parked along side earlier this morning much to my annoyance . Examining the roof from steps there is a ball size dirt mark on their side of the aerial. I went next door and asked his mother to find out if he knew anything about it and if so could I get it back so that it might be repaired or replaced with one similar when I got the details of the old one. The old bag went straight on the defensive saying he wasn't out playing ball today and it was probably broken off in the recent high wind. I explained that the aerial has been on the roof for twenty years and has almost daily been driven into the wind at between 60 and 100 mph. I'm positive it was on the van yesterday.
The aerial hadn't worked since digital changeover but now I'm left with a leaking roof with the internal cavity and wire exposed.
Rant over

Chevy g20 I don't blame you for ranting as I would do the same. The next time you see the kid playing with his football just take it form him and destroy it.

Exactly Ally and I know what that young fellow needs and its a good kick up well... that's enough. When I was growing up if I did that and the neighbour came to my mother she would have marched me out and if I didn't tell the truth she would have beat it out of me. This kinda thing makes my blood boil.

That is really annoying. I think people should take responsibility for their children's actions. What an example to show your kids ....shame on her. Accidents happen and if they do then owe up and man up. 🇧🇭 Chevy g20 Karma start banging a ball against their wall at 7 am every morning for a week or so.....

When the ball comes over take it burst it and deny all knowledge, after all if it's good for them then it's good for you

All balls are going in the bin from now on. Thankfully, I fell out with them years ago over the erection of the fence, where previously there was a 2 ft fence I replaced it with a 6 ft fence to keep her dog from crapping in my garden and constant annoyance caused by her older children kicking their ball into the garden, when they were younger. It was their loss because they were constantly borrowing or needing help with getting locked out or car wouldn't start.
My friend and his wife are going to America in the morning and will look out for a new or secondhand one for me.
