Any knowledge of good Brittany area Camp sites for Children

Hi Folks,
Thinking of going to Brittany in July with Grandchildren and Parents- 7 of us altogether, in car and Campervan. Any ideas of names of good campsites for keeping children occupied- while I go to the 'cafe' to figure out the programme for the each subsequent day!!
I am not sure yet if we will have a mobile home or a tent for some of us.
hope to go via Cherbourg or Roscoff, but I notice berths are scarce.
regards

Frank

Hi Frank

There are loads of really good campsites in Brittany - you will be spoilt for choice. You don't say if it will be your first time or what your preferences are, e.g. near beach so I wont make any specific recommendations.

What I do suggest is that you log onto canvas.co.uk or eurocamp.co.uk. Each offer approx. 10 campsites in Brittany. You will get a good feel for what is available, locations, facilities, activities etc. If you see something you like, visit their website and checkout their reviews on Tripadvisor. Depending on your kids ages, the tour operators will run organised daily activities. But many sites will do same should you book a mobile with them direct which is almost guaranteed to be cheaper than booking with operator.

Remember many campsites can be quiet if you are going in early July so keep this in mind also

Tks Voyager. We have been to France several times, but normally we would not have kids-(grandchildren) in tow. Not sure yet if they will be in mobile or tent. If its a tent they will have limited equipment, so maybe sleeping/eating in camper with us some of the time.
They are 3 of them -aged 8, 6 and 4 years, so activities needed to preoccupy them.
Tks for suggestions re Canvas etc.
Regards
Frank

While canvas, keycamp etc have mobiles and tents on sites some of the sites have their own accommodation as booking through the uk based ones usually includes the ferry and no discounts for not taking the crossing with them

I can recommend a site in Carnac in Brittany. Excellent facilities for kids and adults. The site has two great outdoor pools and also an indoor pool along with kids clubs etc. Most of the major operators, Key Camp, Eurocamp etc. are represented on the site but you can also hire from the site direct. Worth having a look at it if your heading down to that region. Enjoy

If you're in the Carnac area make sure you go and see the standing stones, especially the big tall one down in the forrest. Mind boggling.

Hi spent some time in Benodet two years ago, town centre campsite "Camping Des Pins" you can look it up o the inter web. Very friendly and close to beach and town centre location means adults can enjoy as well. :D :D

Hi can recommend les mouettes carantec I think it's yelloh fantastic indoor and outdoor pool. Stayed for last 2 nights of our hol one night had takeaway pizza other night ate in the restaurant meal was gorgeous and the creme brûlée the best ever! Next year we stayed at a site near st pol de Leon wasn't that great but St Pol De Leon really worth a visit we visited 2 days to the same creperie down a wee cobbled street. Beautiful big cathedral there too.

Hi Franco,

Chateau des Ormes near Dol-de-Bretagne is just under 200 Kms from Cherbourg and reachable in just two hours. It is part of the great Les Castles group that have a substantial number of high quality campsites - not the cheapest but for the most part exceedingly good; especially for children.

Well worth checking out some of the campsites that are part of this group.

No one would ever go to the Carnac area. Without seeing the stones and reading up on them before they go. Fascinating history behind them and when you know it they come aLive as it were.

Thanks folks for those very helpful comments. Looks like Grandchildren will be in a Mobilehome with Keycamp/Campotel or some other operators, so that eases space for us. Hope to pick/discuss a site over the weekend. Once the kids are sorted we will book camper into same site, hopefully!!Thanks for info.
We have seen the standing stones etc, but over a decade ago, so info on campsites had gone vague.

Hi franco

Can highly recommend this site again its part of the castel chain and has so much to offer for your kids, can be a bit expensive though depending on when your going but its indoor swimming Is fantastic our 3 kids 10 and under couldnt get enough of it. Daily kids clubs and out door activities nice bar with live entertainment. 6km from granville and about 1 1/2 hours from Cherbourg.

Check out the les.castel web site for more info we have stayed in 5/6 of the castel sites and are of the highest quality.

Les Castel Sites tend to be a little more expensive but they are excellent. I've never been disappointed in any of them that I've been on.

Hi folks for input. Finally decided as follows:- Going to Le Point St Gilles, Benodet, for 8-9 days, then over to Les Eaux for a few days. Normally we would use Municipal sites if possible but as we need facilities for children we we will just follows where they are going. Camp sites seem to be about €40/45 per nite!! As we will have a week more than the family we will 'lower our standards' for the final week!
Tks for help.
Frank
