Ducato Brake Calipers

Just got my van back from my mechanic. I had dropped it down to him because I thought the brake pads need to be changed (which they did).

But the interesting bit of the story is the calipers. The problem was that one of the pistons in the calipers was not working properly but here is the thing, the sensor to alert you to this problem is only connected to one of the pistons. Yes you guessed it, it was connected to the one that was working properly. :-| Thus, the warning light on in the dash to warn me that the calipers/brakes are not wrong properly did not come on. :o

So folks next time you are in for a service be sure to have your calipers checked.

Pat, I use it enough for the calipers not to seize.

To go back a step I put a subject on the Tribby Forum which may be of some interest.

This was shortly after I bought the van having just come back from Ireland

Aldi had an offer at the weekend for a set of measuring gauges which would let you check the thickness of your disks to know if they are within tolerance
