Scottish Highlands = Ski Stopovers???

Good Evening All
I read that there is 2.5M of snow in the Scottish highlands, best for past 10 years and awesome for the slopes, skiing etc. :ninja:

Never tried the skiing as not enough in this country since the 70's and briefly the other year, but now we got a Hymer and willing to stick on snow chains to check it out. :devil:

So what I am asking - has any of the Motorhome Craic'ers done this trip - tried the run into the highlands during the snow season? If so - where to stay?

Hessy Hymer good for you. I've been up around that way in the winter as my wife is from Scotland and from my experience of driving on the roads its no place for a motorhome. I was glad I had 4 wheel drive in the Land Rover Discovery and I would question if you could get to some of the places in a motorhome.

Hesse, I would agree with Jack. I was in Aviemore in October, there is a great site just past the visitor centre. The wild camping spots in the area would be a bit dangerous in snow or ice.

:o Seems like trouble then :'(

Wild Camping wouldn't work as it is rather cold and I don't have the water tanks insulated, so sustained coldness may freeze them up while a concrete float could be slightly warmer.

O-) However :whistle: - has anyone tried tobogganing in a Hymer :coolgun: :D :bash: :fgrin:

Ben Nevis could have a new sport :up:

We have did that several times. With our first motorhome a 25 year old winnebago in Aviemore. Next with a Kontiki to The Lecht and last time with a Autotrail Scout. It actually was not up to the trip as all the water froze but we had a ball. We just parked up at the Ski park asked if it was ok first. There was never any issue. We were the only unit there. But what an adventure.
