Paddy, I'm having my awning re attached and repaired at Anchorpoint motorhomes in Birdhill next week. It's €52 + vat an hour and he reckons it will be up and fixed in under 3 hours :-)

Just in case you chicken out.....

I got it done ok the first one was on the garage door which was handy enough as I could open and close the door to make sure it wasn't hitting of anything the one at the front was a bit harder so stuck it on with duck tape until I was sure it wasn't hitting of the door when opened I had to drill into cupboard which was tricky as there all sorts of wiring and units I put the rafter in the wardrobe with wall fixings provided it looked like a small job but it took me a good few hours to do it so happy days

Well that's all that counts if you are happy with it yourself. Anyone who points out a fault in it, tell them to take a running jump to themselves!

In case you hadn't thought about it, fill each hole you have drilled with sealant before putting the bolt through to keep any chance of water out.

I was wondering in 2012 why we have awnings in Ireland. I put it out once and it was quickly wound in again. Thankfully it came in handy in 2013 for some sun shelter, lets hope they are out a lot in 2014 :)

I still wonder about them. You park up the van put out the awning set up the table and chairs and you have perfect shade for about 2 hours. :( I've often thought about ditching the awning and having a pop up free standing awning instead. Could be left at home all winter (and most of the summer :D ).

Yeah to be honest if I was buying a van and it had no awning I wouldn't really worry. I have a pop up/scissor type Gazebo.
