Hi to all craicers.........was wondering how many of you have done the loop walk at Howth while ye were parked at the harbour. Looking at the camera this morning I think there's 8/10 vans there..............although if the wind and rain is like anything we are having in the midlands ........high stool and brandy and port would be my preference for today. .
.....

Yeah we have walked it too and it's a fantastic walk with beautiful scenery. No one should go there without doing the loop walk.

To be honest I didn't know there was a nice walk in howth, I was led to believe that all you did was get the dart into the city to go shopping

Shopping can be very therapeutic! One must just remember that the figure on the top right hand corner of one's credit card statement is not a target but a limit! :'(

Drive up to the deer park hotel park up and take a walk around the mountain top, beautiful views over dublin harbour. Walk signposted past Rhododendrons, beautiful when in bloom

Yeah I agree but there's nothing like walking around the loop and having a nice beverage afterwards.

Hi again everyone. I check in on this site almost daily but don't talk a lot (that's why my husband loves me!). We are new to MH'ing and I learn such a lot on here and you guys are such fun. I might persuade my OH to go the the Meet on 7th & 8th as it's not that far from us.

You mention that you can see how many vans are parked at Howth and I was wondering how you can see that. I have the Howth live cam on my ipad but can't see what you see! We were there a few months back and loved it. We bring the bikes (electric!!) & do a bit of a cycle so we will certainly be doing the loop walk (in less windy conditions).

We only purchased our MH in September and have only been to Howth, Cobh and Salthill thus far but we're rearing to go. We might even be adventurous enough to try France in the Summer. When planning a trip I have to alternate between my best friend and my hubby and it's not easy trying to keep em both happy! and NOOOOO there hasn't been any threesomes!

Thanks again for all the info, help and lightheartedness. xx

I had a quick look and wondered the same thing, was far to small to pick a single van out.

There is also Greystone as a good overnight spot and I think its quieter than Howth.

Dont be afraid to jump in and ask questions or seek advice as we all help each other as everyone knows something about something (if that makes sense )

Hi Folks,
any chance of clear instructions on where the "loop" actually starts (or ends) ?
How long, approx. is it?
Thanks

Ok, since no one bothered to let me know, I google earthed the location and see a road right round the area which I take it is called the loop. Now sending a thank you to me. Ha ha

The big loop is set off from Howth up the hill go round the coast to Sutton and then back to Howth. I did it some years ago and stopped at the top of the hill at a bar and had some refreshments and beverages. It's beautiful on a good day. There are a number of shorter loops that you can do.

Jaffa Cakes, my favourite too.
Think the sorter walks will have to be the ones explored. Howth is a lovely spot to go to and the parking right by the water is great, with the scenery changing by the minute. Might try to head to Tollymore Forrest (never actually camped there before) for a couple of days, at least with the ehu, the heat can stay on for longer.
Thanks for the info on the Loops.
