Hi all Craicers
Just a word of advice, if ever dealing with Tomlins Motorhome builders, Newtownabbey.
I am only posting this now I am just free from him.
To be honest we were gutted when our van was badly damaged on the last day of our 2013, 5 week France/Switzerland trip. Came home, eventually chose Tomlins who was a " no problem, looks bad but I can fix this" type person. Happy days? Handy for us as he is local.
Long story short, all the work was done, turned out the repair work was fine, all estimates approved etc after weeks/ months of waiting for parts. He then told me I would not get my van back until the money was in his account! He was holding it hostage even though Aviva told him all was approved & he would get his money! This went on for over a week when we could have been using the van. We got it back with no livery which took another month to arrive/ affix.
On collection of the van all liveried up on 1/12/13 I asked for a receipt for the £200 excess because I needed it to claim it back from the offending party. Asked him to drop it in to my house which is 2 miles away. Despite calls, texts, e- mails & finally a promise to visit him the said receipt was delivered, yesterday, 20/1/14, with a grunt!!! How long does it take to make out a receipt? Not very customer friendly, especially when I know the repair job cost £8,500. Would not recommend him for customer care, although the work done was good. Is this a fair comment?

And Tom if you ever read this you know what I am getting at. Customer cones first!!!

I think it's very fair comment as having had the whole accident repair thing myself the last thing you want is to be held to ransom. When Donaghys repaired mine they dealt with the insurance company and I collected it one week later and there was no mention of we haven't been paid as well as that they gave the excess receipt straight away, just as well though as it's a two hour drive eAch way for me to get there.

You were right to name and shame

Never heard of them before but I have now and perhaps best avoided thanks for the heads up and I'm glad you eventually got it sorted.

That is unbelievable way to run a business and treat any customer. It will be interesting to see how long they last if that's the customer service they are giving.
