mine was already on the van when I got it, its b&w but has sound which is really useful when reversing into a tight spot as you can hear the directions being issued by swmbo.

Have you thought about a wireless one which would save you having to get cables to the front of the van.

I have noticed some are now coming with two cameras which give both a rearview mirror type of vies and a straight down view for reversing both at the same time.

Wireless when it come to a reversing camera is very much hit and miss. Mine was an after fit too and I'm very pleased with it.

I should have added, if you give Michelinman a call "Rosdowney Leisure" he will give you sound advice and be able to supply/fit it for you. Quite a few of us have had work/accessories fitted by him and would recomend him.

There is also LTS who others on here recomend although both may be a bit far for you as you are in Offaly

He must be crazy. Why would you want to be looking for MIL's on your reversing camera?

I topic I do actually know quite a bit about.
Firstly what do you want the camera for, may sound a bit daft but I have two camera on my panel van as I have no thro vision.
If you want it for a reversing aid a low mounted camera is best if however it is to be live all the time you are driving better to mount high up.
My reversing camera is about 60cm from the floor wired connection and the full time camera mounted on the roof wireless simply because having two wireless causes problems
If you are lucky and have a double din audio system you can either use the screen type or a separate monitor (I opted for the one that mounts on the mirror) must admit that they don't fit that great on the mirror so I did a slight mod to keep it in place.
The mirror type has two camera inputs so I can switch between the two at the switch of a button.
I did have a good look at the twin cameras but I didn't like the looking down angle personal choice.
By the way don't thing that they can be operated via wireless but I may be wrong on that.
If looking for a camera for full time use go for CCD gives a better image if for occasion reversing use it doesn't matter much CCD tend to be a few Bob more.
Where to buy is a matter of personal choice on my van at present are all e-bay purchases although I know a lot of people have had problems with the e-Bay stuff personally I have not.
To give you an idea of what my system cost
The small camera for reversing was about £14, Screen and roof mount CCD camera £45 wireless kit
£15 and diode as I have a cam system on my van £15 so less than £100 all in
Fitting did take quite a bit of time for the wired system but wireless is much easier if you are only looking for one single camera at the back.
Having someone fit one for me was not for me but putting into a van conversion I am sure must be a lot easier that a Coachbuilt so I can understand why most people do go to the fitters for this
