We hope to be at the MCCNI rally in Bushmills this weekend.
Unless we get the keys for the house which seems unlikely....

Enjoy Pier 36 Jack.
I spent a bit too much in there last friday evening

Paddyx, Check out the review in the motorhome craic review section HERE.
All the details on Donaghadee Aire including map can be found there.

We had a good time at Donaghadee last night today although the weather was very wet. We didn't use the Aire as we parked in a large park over past the Community Centre and where the bus station used to be. There was just one other van there but it left early in the morning and when we arrived thee was a Knaus there but it left later.

It wasn't me in the knaus  that car park puts you a lot closer to pier 36 than the commons car park handy when the weather is not the most pleasant

That was one of the reasons we decided to go closer. Apparently you can park overnight in it too as we did with no problems. It's a very large park.

That's were we park now, much handier to the town, it would of been a better place for the Aire but maybe it couldn't go there.

it certainly would and much better in every way as you say its closer to the town. The folk in Pier 36 told me quite a lot of folk park there now and not over at the Commons.

The commons is fine for during the summer for a nice walk down into the town, but at this time of year no one wants to be outside too much

Whilst it's good that there's an Aire in Donaghadee, I think they have made a big mistake putting it so far out when they have so much parking so close to the town. Also at the Commons it's not levelly or anything near it. What a pity they didn't use part of that car park for an Aire.

Plus there is a massive drain right in the middle of the big car park for grey waste.

I agree with you Jack, having stayed in both, but if the council or whoever went to the bother of providing an Aires I sure they would like to see it used. The Commons is lovely Aires I know it's not level but thats what we have levelers for.
I only wish the council's down south would follow there example.

Just be careful about using storm drains for getting rid of grey water, councils will deem grey water foul therefore it should be disposed into a foul drain eg sewer.
I am very aware of where most of it goes normally but sometimes it does not take to much to upset these councils.

Ken I agree with you if more councils would put in Aires it would be great. Some fabulous camp sites around but often location is very remote. If there were more Aires well located I for one would tour the country looking for good places with activities to do with the kids and also eat out shop etc. If councils do put them in we should try to support them. It might help increase the numbers around the country.

On a slightly different topic we were at Bushmills for the weekend so on our way home we drove around Portrush and not a single van to be seen. Car parks at White Rocks are been resurfaced with new signs erected all covered up so cant tell whats printed on them.

Pogonogo I think you've a fair idea what's on those signs. Is it surprising that there were no vans on the Portrush Aire? I wouldn't park on it if it was the last place on earth. Whoever designed it needs to be awarded the lollipop for stupidity as he/she must live on another planet. We went to Portrush quite a lot and probably spent over the year around £700. Multiply that by around 50 and it's some loss to the local economy. But sorry my attitude is hell roast them they deserve everything they get.

This car park is overlooked by quite a number of apartments, someone taking a photo of waste being dumped in a storm drain and using it as ammunition to report to the authorities could put an end to parking on that site

Good point. May just bring it home then as there is nowhere to empty grey waste at the Commons either.
