Fold up Steps, Switch & Nipple

Good Evening All,
I was hoking around the underneath of the Hymer first thing this day (before the heavens opened) - {usual Saturday Morning :D } taking sizes for sticking on another Tank for SW Oil and perhaps strap in a gas tank and I noticed a contact switch with wire located behind the step, so when the step is down, the plunger comes out and a signal goes somewhere? :'( Where? 🇧🇭 There is no visible/ appropriate lamp in the dashboard indicating steps down?
Also there is some sort of tyre pressure pipe and cap just below this step - it goes no where as well and does nothing? :wallbash:
Anyone know?? :fgrin:

The switch is probably linked to the ignition in that when step down and engine started it automatically retracts, as I don't have one I can't really think of another reason why.

My step has a warning buzzer which sounds if you drive with the step not fully retracted.
Could be similar

The step on the Adria automatically retracts when you move off.

I'm thinking that it is an Alarm / buzzer as suggested and that it is not working or disconnected. I will try an earth point next weekend, but as I have a faulty reverse - there is no power to it either - I may drop a 12v to it as well. 8-)
The air nipple - no I don't have air suspension ( although I might retrofit/install) - so still on the lookout for an answer :o
thanks for all the help - gratefully appreciated

I know it might sound like I'm trying to be smart but seriously give Donaghys a ring and talk to the technicians as they may be able to shed a bit more light on the matter as they are the Hymer dealer

Hi FC and Digger,
Yep - its a buzzer switch to say "Hang on the steps are out"
I got a new one from Germany and going to replace the other one - I am thinking the Plus12V to this is as with the reversing light - as neither are working and both wires are same black colour.

Bring back a good weekends weather so I can get loads done to the driving stock (Window mechanism fell in the better half's car 🇧🇭 >_< - flexiglass window in drivers side for 3 weeks now as rain prevents 4 hours strip and replace wires) = not the most attractive botch job - but keeps you dry and car is secure. :police:

Thanks again

On the Adria Vision the step buzzes and the goes in automatically when I drive away. I never have to worry about it being out when I'm driving.

Mine is so low profile it doesnt need a retractable step, just open the door and step in.

Ours is the same, I would hate to have a step sticking out of the side of the van if I was parked on the side of a street like we do in Lisdoonvarna.

On our Auto-trail it doesn't buzz, it silently slips itself back in without any fuss.

Ally I think you might find there's a buzzer on yours but it's not working. If I remember right I was told it was European Law that all steps fitted after a certain date had to have a buzzer.

Jack I'd say if there was a buzzer it would have been disconnected by now :-)

Carlsberg and buzzers the next morning don't mix well O-) I'm told ;-)
