How many litres would you use in a weekend?

I used just over 10 litres last weekend, I just went and refilled and it cost me £8.31 @ 80 pence a litre (I think it is)

Arrived Friday late afternoon/early evening, switched gas off Sunday around 2pm. Heating on low most of the time, gas fire. Water heated a few times and a kettle now and again, fridge on gas all weekend.

At this time of year would you not be better leaving your water heater on all the time while away in it just in case the temperature drops to freezing and empties your water tank ?

I thought that putting the heater on would put some heat into the water, not up to 60deg but around room temperature.

It does, the fire is right in front the boiler.

Then it wont freeze unless it gets to really low temperatures outside and the heater can no longer cope.

Depends on your system. Some do some don't. I have a gas fire which only heats the water a bit as it is close to the boiler.

Some systems, usually the ones without a fire, blow heating only, usually heat the water also.

I don't know. I just change the cylinder when it's empty. But we do get through quite a bit, hence my interest in the Alu-Gas.

I'm the same Ally, when one cylinder is empty I change over to another, I always travel with one full cylinder.

Ok an easy way to work it out. If your cyliner is 11KG then double that for litres, so your cylinder holds 22 litres.

7KG = 14 litres

etc

Or if you really wanted to know, weigh one which you have connected and then again after the weekend.

Yeah maybe. I have never smelt any gas. But it just seems a lot to use in one weekend.

Although blood shot eyes, memory blanks, staggering and slurred speech are symptoms of inhaling leaking gas, you'll find it's more than likely the symptoms of Carlsberg too.

Spend money! Pfft!

I'll find it myself and tighten the jubilee clip, nut, thread or whatever it is.

I doubt it is leaking though.

Ally turn on the gas then check what pressure your gauge shows then turn off the gas at the bottle.
the pressure should hold at the gauge for maybe a couple of hours.if the pressure drops off fast at the guage you must have a leak.. Hope that makes sense!!
Steven..
Probably only works if you have a pressure gauge and not the float type!!

I use a 13 kg cylinder. Put a new one in mid August before France and still using it but ready for replacement soon, includes several weekends away with no electricity.
