Roof Boxes

Hey All
is there any difficulty in sticking a few roof boxes on?

How can you find the "loadability" of the roof so you don't knacker the seals?

I want to stick the Awning, Awning flooring, Wetsuits etc out of the way as the boot is not that big and this stuff can be wet/damp - so best to hang outside the Hab unit??
thanks

Fiamma do roof boxes and some Motorhomes are supposed to support an average mans weight, but I won't get onto my roof as I am slightly over the average

Roof Boxes and I had them on previous motorhomes are like garages. One packs them with stuff that they never use or seldom use. You pack it and it stays there.

You have to remember you have an overall payload limit so it won't matter where you put the load there is a limit. As jack says about the roof boxes makes sense as there is the hassle of getting up to get at things, think about possibly a rear mounted one if that's the way you want to go.

Don't look into my garage at the moment I'm sure I'm away over my payload.

As has been said, be aware of your payload.
Just remember if you are using a roof box to try and pack it with lighter weight stuff. If it is packed with heavier stuff it could effect your body roll on corners.

Its the awning, front window thermal insulated cover, awning floor cover, outside games and wetsuits & rods I want to stick away.
Not that much weight really and I am thinking of two smaller ones left and right of the roof light to balance and not that wide (1 m).
Thanks for the replies - much appreciated

I found she I had the box on the roof of mine it was a pest climbing the ladder all the time especially when it was dark or if you had a few glasses of wine. Personally I would not put anything on the roof to carry stuff.

As Jack said, I'm sure you'd soon grow tired of climbing up & down the ladder to get stuff from your roof box. Most of the stuff you've listed looks like daily use items. That'd be a pain.

A trunk at the rear at ground level sounds like a great idea but how would it look? We used to put all the akward stuff in the shower, and I'm sure we will again when we're back on the road 8-). Wetsuits would hang on coat hangers from an overhead rail, but all the loose stuff would go into one big bag. (Windbreakers, fishing rods, awning, etc) The bag was easy to lift out when shower was needed. Not that we used the shower in the camper that often anyway, preferring to use site facilities and save our fresh water & grey tank capacity...
Of course, I'm assuming you have a shower, not a wet room...

Personally after my experience I would not put a roof box on the roof of my Motorhome. That's my personal opinion and experience.
