Folks one thing that I had trouble finding in bulk was LP Gas. In a few places I did find it the canopy was too low to get near the pump. It's not something I've ever needed to buy before and was surprised at the difficulty I encountered. I've had a search around here to make sure I'm not reposting something that's already been done but didn't find ought. Mods, please merge or delete if I have.

Maybe a sticky list of stockists along with their geographical location would be helpful, maybe not.

I did find it at -

1.) Autogas, Tramore road, cork. Lots of space for large vehicles and helpful and knowledgable staff.

Look up forklift sales and repair workshops,

They always have a tank for refilling the gas bottles for the forklifts,

Very hard to find in the South from what I hear and there are plenty of LPG apps for the North. I think any database covering the South has been shown to be very out of date as they keep closing.

A list for the South on MHC would be a great idea.

I think you'll find that the Flogas list is not up to date as some of the places have stopped swelling it as there was no demand. A bit like Ultimate mate Diesel at BP pumps. Their list says its available in Downpatrick and they have the Ultimate sign up but just ordinary diesel. Lists to out of date quickly.

I was thinking about getting refillable system fitted to my van but the above puts me off.

I have the refillable cylinders and certainly have no problem up here. I always make sure they are full when I'm going away and when one is empty, I usually start looking for a filling station. It's much cheaper than the ordinary cylinders.

Yeah unfortunately I don't think there is any point if you live in the South. We talked about this over a few pints in the Dog & Duck and it seemed pointless. Dave reckoned, for instance, there is not one place in Dublin that does it.

Flogas have a map showing their outlets!

http://www.flogas.ie/index.php?id=4

One of the main ones which wont cause a problem is the Apple Green stations on the M1.

Really? Interesting thanks a lot FC.

I think our list should maybe only list places where WE have actually purchased there or know that someone else has in the last 3 or 6 months maybe.

Agreed.

Satnav coordinates and a brief review would also be a huge help.

I know that floras are working on improving availability, they own or are owned by Topaz. They are promoting the conversion of large hgv's to run on dual fuel so need to have a network in place for it.

I hear ya Jack but a double cylinder set-up is expensive and it commits you totally to lpg. I was thinking of a single cylinder set-up so that I could still carry a propane cylinder if I wanted. But then a) that kinda defeats the purpose and b) I think it would be a pain to be constantly filling up. Thank you sir that will be 80 cent :'( Do come again!

Thats why I was thinking of a one cylinder set up. And a refillable would be handy for France.

I run a 4.8 Cayenne Turbo here in KZ but only because the registration (road tax) is $150 annually and I buy 98 Ron petrol for 38c a litre here in our oil (very) rich home for now. I have a friend who foolishly, you may say, did an LPG conversion on the same vehicle at home in Co. Tipp. and rarely uses it because he can't buy the stuff at all in his county. The internet and indeed the TV would have lead him (and me) to believe it's available widely at home. Thank god for these polish lads who are working hard to re-invent the wheel on the Tramore Rd. in Cork.

I hope they last but I fear the worst..... :-|

I take it this this the place you are referring to. I must call in and check as that would be quite convenient for me.

If it's convenient it's worth changing to fillable bottles, I have saved quite a few pound after getting it fitted by LTS. I have two garages within a 5 mile radius of my house that do LPG and one or the other is usually in the direction to where I am heading.

Here is mine fitted: forum/topic.php?t=4172

Thanks Ally. I'm very tempted. In fact, I already got a quote from Simon in LTS and was thinking of combining a fitting with the Lumpers meet. But I need to be sure that there is somewhere near me to fill up that wont be gone in a few months time.

Up date for ya Marty,

Man's on tuam road is frank Devane, 087-2714664 from around turloughmore I hear,

Also another spot to fill is on the old Dublin road out of Oranmore on the right hand side (old roundabout motors site) just before Ned forde's
Didn't get a name or number but the next time my mate fills he will get details to put on here,

Hope this helps,

I think I was in that place about four years ago and he offered to fill the bottles in out van if I removed them.
He saw the gaslow system and refused to touch it.

It looks like the same place.

For the amount of gas I use it's not viable for me to fit a gaslow system, but it's a great way to save money if you are more active in the van especially over winter.

I will be talking to Flogas in the next week or so and will try to get some info re filling points in south etc

Whilst in Roscommon yesterday I found another LPG retailer,

The texaco filling station on the tulsk road roundabout as you leave roscommon town, I forgot to check the price per litre,

There is a garage on the roundabout at Castlebar when you come in from the Kiltimagh road that sells LPG - filled up there a week or so ago
