Batten down the hatches...

It seems we're going to get belted by another storm overnight. Especially you lot at the top end of the island. So anyone away in their MH over the next 12-24h, make sure ye're hunkered down in a nice sheltered spot.

I recently spotted that our camper got blown around by last weeks storm, literally! Its up on axle stands right now (axle stands on front, stacked railway sleepers to the rear) and the wind managed to blow the front of the camper about 3 inches out of its original position. 5 tons blown about by the wind! With no weight on the front of the chassis, the back axle is acting like a fulcrum. I was able to grab onto the front of the chassis and with a lot of effort, I could tip the camper up off the front axle stands!! Scary. I'm amazed it didn't tip off the stands.

I spent some time chaining it down this afternoon to prevent it from moving any more!!

I drove from Camac Valley to the south side of Cork today in our bus - I'm not sure I've ever been so mentally tired. It was a constant fight with the wheel and the bridge over the blackwater in fermoy was nothing short of.... "Entertaining".

Be safe, be slow!

Afternoon Folks. Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are enjoying boxing day.

In weather news, we are closely monitoring another big storm on the way. Details regarding track and intensity are still uncertain, but we are advising the public to be prepared for some strong winds combined with heavy rain, bringing risk of flooding.

The storm is expected to affect southern Ireland this evening and overnight and Met Eireann has issued several updates with Amber warnings and have now also issued widespread RED (Emergency warnings) for many parts of Ireland and are expecting damaging gusts of up to 150km/hr.

We will monitor this and keep you all updated.

Battering southern Cork City here fairly hard currently! Was gonna stay in the bus tonight and have a few lads up to it for a few beers and a game of cards. Pulled the plug on it an hour ago, not so much because of the weather but I really wanted another night in with the MIL............... ;-) :'( >_< 🇧🇭 :o

Northern Ireland Weather
Winds are likely to calm down for a while folks and then pick up again in a few hours, at which stage we may issue a RED warning for some areas. It is going to be a long night for us, stay tuned.
