Excellent news if they keep the prices right. We could save a lot on fuel.

Wow! Now that is interesting. Welcome development for motorhomers and car owning families both.

Anyone who's been to Northern spain/Portugal will be aware it has an awful lot to offer the traveller and without our football shirt wearing tattoo'd shaved headed brothers being present! :(

It's L D Lines, the ferry company that that started in competition with Irish Ferries, on the French crossing, now owned by Celtic link. Anybody got any prices yet

Did you consider crossing in MH your self and get Julie to fly with Ryan air or fly by and pick her up at the airport the other side,

Just a thought 8-)

That's what Liz does each year we go to France. I set off a few days before her and then pick her up at Paris and all is honkey dorey! She doesn't mind the boat but hasn't the holidays that I had.

Had a quick look on their site - didn't seem to be able to book Rosslare to Spain as one booking. But out of interest I did a return booking for Rosslare/St. Nazaire for the start of June, returning the middle of July. Specified our motorhome as the vehicle, a 4 berth inside cabin and 2 reserved seats (made me do this as we'll have 4 kids), and the price came in at €360 :o Must be something wrong there?? The same journey for us with Celtic link came at €660

It would appear that their site is a little confusing at the minute. It looks like you go to St. Nazaire and then on to Spain....not directly to Spain. I suspect as it's a complete new service it will take a while to get the hang of things. They might well take a note of Celtic and have someone on the end of a line that actually talks to you and makes it simple for folk who are not completely computer savvy.
Having said that .....those that have priced it are saying it's a lot cheaper :bandit: . So we can only hope that they might stick a ferry on to Great Britian and get us to where we would like to go more often if we could afford the crazy prices.......here's hoping.

Just after looking at their site, €340 going on Aug back sep. Celtic and Irish ferries are just over €500 with 10% discount and you save on Diesel if going south. Anybody know what their Boats are like?

Can't find which company the new service will be with but it is great to have more options and a ferry to Spain would be very welcome for those of us trying to get down south. With diesel prices these days if the ferry fare is anyway reasonable it would be worth while. :)

There appears to be a lot of confusion and unanswered questions about this new ferry to France and Spain. I think the best thing to do is buy me a ticket and I'll go over, drive around for a week or two and report back. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

The times don't match up though. The boat from Rosslare arrives in St Nazaire on Saturday evening. The next boat from there to Gijon is on Monday evening.

I think the website probably needs to be updated, if there is indeed going to be a new Rosslare/Gijon service.

That is why I tried a booking.

I agree that it is a little confusing.

Not sure what's wrong I tried to book today to St Nazaire and it wouldn't let me. Each time it crashed on me. Just hope Liz doesn't change her mind before I get it booked. LOL

Does anyone have a contact phone number for LD Lines with English speaking staff.

Managed to speak to a staff member today via broken english/ french .....price for Rosslare to St Nazaire June seems reasonable but couldnt ascertain if you are permitted to bring a dog in MH or onto ship at all
