Overnight parking

We are going to a wedding party in the causeway hotel on Saturday 21st December so of course want to have a few drinks and stay over. Would it be cheeky to ask the hotel if it's ok to park the motorhome in the car park? If so does anyone know of closest place we could park? Would much rather stay in my own van than in a hotel!!

Of the last four weddings that we went, Three allowed us park, just asked us to park at the back of the Hotels. The only Hotel that refused and were outraged that we had the cheek to ask was The Slieve Russell in Ballyconnell, Cavan.

as previous people have said, it costs nothing to ask and in this economic climate they cant afford to turn people away.

hotels are becoming motorhome friendly especially for weddings so give them a ring.

Yes Ken it's at the giant's causeway. Thanks everyone will give them a ring hopefully won't be a problem if so I'll get the groom to ask - they won't want to upset him too much money getting spent!!

So I rang beforehand to the hotel and they said that would be ok to park. We asked was there anywhere they preferred us to park and they said there was an area for coaches and said to park there and when we arrived to make ourselves known. This we did and A fantastic night was had by all the drink flowed all night so next morning at after 9 I was cooking breakfast when we saw a man with orange jacket approaching. He told us overnight parking was not allowed and asked us to move on. We explained we were with the wedding party and they had told us it would be ok to park. He said it wasn't up to the hotel it was national trust and he had coaches arriving at 10 and needed us to move. Not the most friendly so we packed up and left! Never mind we had a fantastic night the hotel got there money in lots of alcohol and we got a free night parking just a shame about national trust grumpy man is it just Portrush area or what ????

Glad you had a good night, be great if you could follow that up with the Hotel the fact you were asked to move in the morning.

The national trust seem to have a bit of a problem with parking overnight, they don't allow it at Cushendun although a blind eye seems to be used most of the times.

Yes Ally probably should but if that is the general NT attitude would it make a difference? Couldn't fault the hotel at all the staff were all so friendly my sister was staying at smugglers inn and when they asked the bar man if he could give them a taxi number he put them into his car and drove them himself - a good bunch of staff who enjoyed a bit of Craic!
