I see the 2014 acsi off season discount card is now available ,unfortunatly Ireland only has eight campsites mentioned in this edition, but still handy for anyone heading to the continent. It now has four tariff's available, 12,14,16 and 18 euro.

Jack it is the ASCI European book. You get the camping card inside it.
Discount period is usually outside the dates of 10 July and 30 August. (ish)
Different campsites offer different dates and prices.
8 Irish campsites is an improvement, this year (13)there was only 3, the majority of campsites were 16 are these the ones gone up to 18 and i assume all the irish entrys are 18 with there excellent facilitys
swimming pools ,saunas etc

Jack you buy the Acsi book each year and the camping card is included,it only costs £13.50,or 14.50 euro.I have saved the cost of the book in just one night alone when compared to the normal campsite prices in France. 4 of the Irish sites are 18 euro and 4 are 16.the card is valid outside the high season,i have used it up to the 5th of July and after 24th of August ,each site sets its own discount period. If you google acsi you will see all the sites online. There are 2739 sites covered for next year.

I have already ordered my ACSI book some time ago. It is definitely worth while.
You can save the price of the book/membership in one stay in certain campsites
They are not much use here in Ireland but in France and Spain you should't travel without them if you stay mainly on campsites. We have travelled on the continent a few times for varying stretches between 1st March and end middle of June ie off season where ACSI and also Camping Cheques are most useful.
Like most special offers or deals you have to plan your holiday a bit to make most use of them
If you do go for the book Jack there is a download for your satnav which has all the location in the book to make them even easier to find.

Tell me more about the satnav download, Mark! We used the Book for the last couple years but didn't know anything about the download. How do you get it?

Don't know about Irish web sites, John, but you can buy the ACSI books from Anchorpoint Motorhomes in Birdhill or on the net. we also bought the square reflector tingy for the back of the Bicycles on the rear of the Motorhome from them and they were only half the price of ebay and they also gave us a booklet on France that they give to their coustomers when buying a Motorhome off of them.

It is two for some countries, so better to have them than not.
Don't forget to organise breakdown cover which will repatriate you back home in case of catastrophic problems

Yes John, the first year we went to France we had no Breakdown cover and it was at the back of my mind all of the time. After that we took out ADAC cover and it was great peace of mind.n

I recollect from a letter page in MMM, reading about the bicycle sign. In one particular EU country they insist that this sign is metal, and the writer of the letter got fined as they had the standard plastic one. I can't recollect which country and my brain is too melted at the moment to look it up. I will look it up at the weekend if the answer is not forthcoming.

We used this last year and had some great sites. We got a few nights for €8 !! and down in the south of France in AGDE La Pepiniere for €10 per night and we got 7 nights for the price of 6. Could not beat that with a big stick. Some sites were not too nice but some where lovely. This was a very busy friendly place in September 2013
