Over cab locker damp patches

Not as bad as the subject title

Recently came back from a week away and had a little problem with the over cab locker where like most folk we store our bedding. I am sure that many others must have had the same problem so looking for suggestions/solutions.
On getting the bedding out we discovered small damp patches. This I found was due to one cross member not being covered thus we had cold metal into warm cab instant condensation onto the bedding were it touched. A strip of bare metal about 2 inches (4cm for those of you who speak in new jargon) nicely situated about 6- 9 inches (cant work that one out) in from the door so that it cant be seen when you look into the space.
As you can see from the picture mine is a Van conversion, I am sure that many other of you must have had the same problem Trigano build quality isn't wonderful so that why we all love um always gives us something to do.

Anyway guys and gals what did you use to cure this one hopefully without having to strip out the unit

Thanks for the replys
David

We have the same problem because there is no insulation under the fiberglass roof in the over cab locker. We take out anything that is touching the fiberglass while in storage, otherwise it gets damp.

You could try some sticky back acoustic foam to create a barrier from the cold .I seen it used in a van overhead locker when we were up at Donaghey's open weekend.I think it is available on ebay.

What about those vacuum storage bags advertised on TV. Says they are damp proof

Many thanks for the suggestions
Always looking for cheap way out so.
I spotted some stick down carpet tiles in the 99p shop (4 in a pack about a foot square) so I thought that if I cut them into strips I could cover the bare metal as they wont be seen so the colour will not matter.
What do you think
