My God that's the worst crash I have ever seen, it just shows you how little protection you have in a Motorhome, Hopefully the driver makes a full recovery!

That was my thoughts. The habitation area of motorhomes can be reduced to a pile of matchwood and debris in an instant.

I don't want to bring undue attention to your (and my new) hobby and it's pitfalls but I did come across a motorhome crash in the south of France before and I often think of the horrendous sights I saw. Knowing cars much better than motor homes and having raced and rallied in the past, I have wondered how the manufacturers get away with the structures. They really are vulnerable. The safety and testing to get a car to the road for a given manufacturer is unreal, does all this just go out the window for motor homes and RV's?!?

Exactly what I was thinking, make you very worried about any travelling in the rear of the vehicle!

Allegedly the RAC were called but they wouldn't move it as it had dogs in the back. It was left on the hard shoulder for 3 hours before the lorry hit it.

That what makes it all the more tragic if it is true.

Don't forget it was a truck that wiped out that motorhome. A car wouldn't have faired much better.

The RAC will have a lot to answer for if the allegations are true.

I agree with you Kevin, but I think a van conversion would fair out better than a coach build.

Unfortunatly your wrong Pat, I have seen vans ripped apart on motorways too ,makes you think about your rear seat passengers also ,trucks do considerable damage to anything they hit,, pictures like this should be shown to truckers when they are doing their driver CPC courses

I think God help all including the driver of the truck, no one sets out to cause damage.
Anyone involved in an accident like that would need some counseling.

Sure that is the size of a heating oil tank at the back of a House!
