Oops, sorry! Looks like I made my first mistake by posting a query in the wrong place.
Can anyone advise on the legality/rules for motor homes overnighting in lay-bys, out of town car parks, etc. in NI? Many small places in Scotland encourage it for a couple of nights as it brings trade to the local shops and restaurants. Thanks in advance for advice. Francie.

You will find it pretty much the same as in Scotland a few places you are not welcome but they are few and far between. Never been refused to park in a pub car park yet, or anywhere local.

Hello, Ally. Thanks for the very prompt reply. The main areas I'm interested in at the moment are the coastal areas of Antrim and Down. I have fond memories of these areas as a boy and thought I'd like to visit them again with my (Scottish)wife. Many thanks again. Francie.

You will find loads of friendly places and establishments in those area's. Some height barrier's at the odd location but usually you will be fine.

Some beautiful spots to find!

We have a map with over 350 Motorhome Parking spots on it and downloads for satnavs, but it is only available to subscribed members so that it is not abused.

Francine when you come Shanogue is a must for a few nights at least. It's very central to everything and a shortntaxi run into Antrim which has some good pubs with food. Be sure and include it on your list and you might even meet me there which would be a bonus. Lol
