Just throwing out a thought...........has anyone done Christmas in their van?. We are usually on our todd for Christmas........and that's not a problem as we like the peace and quite. But swmbo has said she wouldn't mind " getting away". When I ( stupidly )said that hotels are expensive  I was informed " in the van stupid :'( . So.........any thoughts / advice

Why not? Have a slap up dinner and a belly full of grog in one of the many hotels around the country that stay open (I'd not be doing Crimbo din dins in a van) and then retire slightly pickled when ever suits you with someone else having done the cooking and washing up! Maybe park down the end of the lake car park and eat and drink in the hotel at The Hudson Bay Hotel near Athlone!

Bloody great idea to me - will make this time way less boring than it normally is IMHO.

Do it!

Imagine waking up on a wild Christmas morning looking out to sea at Inchadonney spa resort then?!? Into the hotel by the fire for the day after a walk on the beach..... Bliss!

As long as you can tune your telly in to watch Willy Wonka on Christmas morning, then anywhere will be fine!

Peeling Brussels sprouts on Christmas morning just wouldn't be the same without The oompa loompa song going in the background...

If I had the witch, sorry meant mother in law for Christmas, I would be chasing Maurice down the road. This may seem awful but her partner has been unwell for a few days and has been moved to icu ( I said could he not move towards the light!) but my wife in a conversation with her sister about the situation said that if he dies she is catching the first plane to Spain and her sister said book her a flight also. However the main man seems to have checked his admissions list and he isn't on it yet as he is getting better so looks like we are staying and having a normal Christmas (no mother in law)

Glad its you and not me Shivster. Would love just to get off in the motorhome with just Liz and myself. Maybe I am being selfish but that what I would love Christmas Day in the Motorhome somewhere peaceful and quiet.

There will be three children visiting, with miscellaneous spouses and four grandchildren. Of course Santa Claus will visit late on Christmas eve for the little ones and there will be a few callers on Christmas morning. Toys on the floor, a couple of TVs going, children yelling and playing, the smell of a big roasting turkey. General pandemonium - Busiest day of the year :-) If it is dry I will probably pop out for a walk on the beach at some point.

I have to say I really enjoy it. :D
