Never liked all wheel drive anyway, it's got to be the manual 4x4 where you are in 4 or not!
As for the tyres my adria is running on mud and snow michelins as it is but it would get stuck on a banana skin I'd say as if I take off and give it full of the pipe it will spin the wheels no bother, (I'm not a boy racer Anymore)

That's an impressive demonstration. Impressive argument for using winter tyres.
Would have thought that the four wheel drive would have faired better on summer tyres.
I'm not sure I would like to take the motorhome up that slope even with winter tyres

I've been driving on them all year round for the last 10 years. They're more commonly known as Mud and Snow Tyres, but Winter tyres seems to have become a buzzword over the last 3 years or so.

Put a front set on the daily today. I went in to replace a tyre with a sidewall cut and after listening to the forecast ended up putting on 2 winter tyres. Reasonable at 55 +vat each.
Put a set on our Cayenne here in Almaty a few weeks ago and have been fairly disappointed with the performance of these 'snow and ice' ones. And the really cold stuff here is only starting tomorrow night....

If you have winter tyres on the front and summer on the rear you could have a rear wheel slide on a corner (best grip on front). Best to have all winter tyres.
I'd agree actually. I tried get the tyre shop here to just put two on, they said I'm better with standard tyres all round than just two on either back or front......
....they know a bit about ice and snow here!
