Another POI to submit.

Kinsale. A more convenient 'on street' parking area for motorhomes.

Spotted a few motorhomes parked by the waterfront in Kinsale last weekend. Here - 51.705558,-8.519018

Only minutes walking distance into the town and all it has to offer. Parallel parking with the kerb and a slight incline so a little levelling would be required if needed. No "No motorhome" signs that I could see. It'd be a great Motorhome Aire for Kinsale... no services.

I live about 10miles from kinsale - motorhomes are always parked in the area you have photographed - there is also another area a little bit further through the town - no facilities here either though . Plenty of life in kinsale at weekends especially .
It is a lovely little spot with top class food and drinking spots .

We stayed here last Saturday night. A very, very wet Saturday all day but we went for a walk got soaked but yes this is a lovely spot. No bother all night quiet and peaceful.

As already said it is a lovely spot, the only advise I would give is plan your route there wisely , we were there a couple of months ago and arrived in the dark and had to negotiate some very narrow streets and had to fold in mirrors of parked vehicles to get through.

It's not that Ken, it's because the streets are so narrow, there was a lorry making a delivery that we had to pass. It was our own fault we went wrong and ended up going down streets that were designed for horses and carts.

The above information is still valid.

Don't use "the high road" if you decide to drive from the above location to Charles fort (coast road). Ally will testify from recent experience, it's a bit narrow for motorhomes! Don't drive through Summercove! Better to driver around the back via "Snugmore".

 

You should download that app if you're touring the area. It has plenty of POI's to choose from.

Kinsale native here. Two additional options to the one shown
1) Charles Fort - coming from cork take a left approx 1 km from Kinsale town and 2 right past graveyard. Don't attempt Summercove village route. Bullman pub just down the hill. Great grub.
Great harbour side walk back into town centre 15/20 mins
2) drive through Kinsale town, down pier road, follow river for about 1km. Don't cross bridge. Parking on the right beside river. 10/15 minute walk back to town centre

I found myself on the " High Road " Last year heading to Charlesfort.... Wont be going that way again!

Admittedly when leaving the next morning I couldnt do the turn from Lower Road onto the R600 and went into Kinsale and drove around the carpark to get me in the right direction
