Howth again

Hi Folks, just back from another lovely weekend in Howth.
At least 12 vans on both Friday and Saturday night.
I intend writing to the Donegal Councillor who does not want us, because of the "**** mess" we leave.
Well first of all, the only thing we left in Howth over the weekend was about one hundred euro - (100.00).
Maybe Donegal traders do not need this type of "mess"?

THere was no mess around where the motorhomes were parked in Howth and I can only assume that in Donegal, the situation is the same.

What you do find in places is that locals or folks out for the day/night, purchase from a local chippy and dump the leftovers and wrappers out the window and drive off.
I have never witnessed any motorhomers doing this.
Anyway, had a lovely weekend in Howth and contributed to the local economy.
We will go where we are welcome.
Regards

That's the attitude and hurt them where it counts. The business folk in Howth told me the previous week end that they are glad of the custom they get from the vans on the pier as they say.

Hi All, last Sunday 13/10 we stopped at Howth on our way back from the Kilkenny meet and when parked up on the pier was approached by a Pat Murphy who is in charge of Community Relations & Club Promotions of the Howth Yacht Club,(I hav his card) he was looking for motorhomers who on Sat night were in the Yacht Club and where told by staff they could have one drink and leave,I'm not sure if he located persons or not but he implied this should not have been the case as he wanted to promote a relationship with m/homers, Also informed us of the possibility that the council are discussing parking charges in the village which will probably include the pier. I have emailed Pat that I have forwarded this thread to members for info etc .

If you have his contact information would you mind sending him a link to this thread or even suggesting he register on here as a free member. If the club are wanting to improve relations with motorhomers using the pier this is a great starting point for him.

We went into the YC the week end we were down to have a look and had a few drinks and were made welcome by staff and folk there. We got talking to folk and they were delighted to see motorhomes on the Pier.

Just heard the Minister for Agriculture Food Marine has not yet reached a decision in relation to his proposal to introduce paid parking charges in Howth Harbour.
Local businesses etc have stressed the damage this would do to local economy in terms of tourists visiting the area.
Will keep on the look out for the dreaded parking meters over the winter months
:( :(

The fact that local businesses are against it might have an influence on his decision.

Well I suppose they are politicians and they are not that clever. Should we all organise and go to Howth for a week end, pack the place out go to restaurants and local coffee shops and boost the takings of the local businesses and let them see what we spend.

Back yesterday from first weekend in Howth and must say it was great. Train into city centre where there was a great buzz due to Rugby match and so many tourists. Back to Waterside in Howth for pints and to watch match. Then over to Doghouse for a bite and some vino. Doghouse is very alternative and well worth a visit. All staff so nice and helpful. Left Craic cards everywhere and most were familiar with them. Only 6 vans at end of pier out past HYC and 4 more closer to HYC. Did not visit HYC. Great weekend. Great spot...

Thinking of going down to Howth this weekend for the first time. Wife & daughter are going to the RDS in Dublin on Saturday for the food show, does the dart go this far or will they have to change in Connelly St?

Yes I have gone to the RDS on the Dart, Its just a short walk from the station, I am not sure which station I got off, could have been Lansdowne Road.

Sydney parade or Lansdowne Rd. will be their stop - either/or.

Dart goes all the way to bray. Go with them but don't get off. It's quite a nice way to see Dublin bay actually! :-)

Hi folks, the webcam link is off (or not allowed from my current location) - where do you all park there, I know Howth fairly well but don't really recall seeing any Mh's parked up there! As you turn left to go towards the pier do you then turn right and head for the HYC club house? Is there any issues on a Sunday morning when the market stall holders arrive to set up there?

I'd like to do a weekend there as the dart is great and the begging seals are brilliant along the pier for the kids but I just can't picture the parking spot. Also is an 11m bus viable there?

Thanks all.
