Had my 2.3 130multijet remapped to 162 before we went to france in july. 4 mpg more and power to burn. Pedal never touches the floor. We are well pleased also he will travel to your location. Tele # available if required .

Just had a look at tunit.com - they don't re-map, but just add a box.

£480 for the box and using their calculator I would save £430 in 5 years - hardly worth doing...

Andy,

Send me the number please, thanks

I'm always very dubious about those online calculators. Lots of additional factors that the calculators can't account for. Vehicle weight, tyre width & diameter (rolling load resistance), drivers driving style, etc, etc...

An old friend once told me that the very best way to improve fuel economy is to drive barefooted and glue thumbtacks to the accelerator pedal...

I put a bit of 6 x 4 under the fast pedal. I was getting chronic consumption 7mpg around town and 12 mpg on a journey, whilst every other owner I know with a similar van were getting 18 - 24mpg.
I changed the MAP sensor before my run to Killarney, with all my gear and 6 adults on board, 550 miles at 60+ miles per hour and 200+ miles driving around town and short trips down there and averaged 17.6 mpg. (not great but a lot better ). I noticed the manifold is cracked on one side, which I'm told messes up the oxygen sensor readings and causes over fuelling. I have spare manifolds on my other engine so someday in the future when I get the motivation I must change this.

MMM interchange this month reply to a letter on remapping a 2.2 Peugeot engine, which actually is a ford manufactured unit.
Their advice is although there are perceived benefits in power and economy, there is also compromises including warranty cover, insurance cover and insurance company notification charges for modifications and they suggest that with increased power in a turbo engine, increased heat produced can cause cooling issues.
I haven't a clue, just passing on what I have read.

Hi Ally would be very interested to know what your findings are with the ReMap I have been thinking of having my Mercedes Sprinter Based Van Remapped it is a 2.7 TD 316 model. Would love to know what Craicer's might think of the idea of doing a Remap on same. Has anyone had it done on a mercedes sprinter already and if so what is their verdict good / bad idea.

Great job!

So much more pleasureable to drive smoother and more torque. Can sit in 5th gear where I would normally be in 4th. Not worked out the fuel yet but I reckon roughly an extra 4 mpg.

How long will it take you to recoup the cost and does it affect your warranty?

Re-Map versus tuning box, what are the pros or cons of each?

Tuning box - pfft :-/

Tuning box tricks the ECU into thinking the engine is cold so giving it more petrol etc - it piggy backs the ECU

A re-map is the ONLY way to go IMO, it reprograms the ECU (the brain) so that it can take more advantage of the fuel and the climate you operate in.

Not if you don't tell them. :D

Seriously... not sure although would be good to know. My insurance had no problems with it.

Any further news on the re-map ally?

Do you notice much in the way of more torque or mpg?

If you remap you need to inform your insurance otherwise if you have an accident you are in the soup.

Loads more Torque, it's a different van and so much nicer to drive. MPG has increased by around 4 - 5 mpg. Can stay in fifth a lot longer, not having to drop into 4th on the slightest of hills.

Can you advice who done your remap and if you don't mind saying what it cost.

Have been thinking about getting my 2.8 done as it's as you say not great on the hills.

The guy refused an advert on Motorhomecraic, hence why his number was not added here.

But here it is: Serge tuning +447766334270

Thanks to "pogonogo" for giving it to me.

We got one done by Joe Power , TDR performance, outside Dublin. Fuel economy increased , using 2litres less fuel per 100kms. Driveability improved too.

Highly recommend Serge 077 6633 4270. just tell him weejohn told you about him. Very good and confident about his work.
My motorhome 2.3 130bhp was sorted by Serge and I have so much more torque and hugely improved mpg.
34 mpg from an A class and even around 37mpg when on longer conti trips.
Give Serge a call.
