Ok I'm sure this will be obvious to you all :)

Headed out for the first time last week in our new (to us) MH to try and get to know everything.

What way do you all fill with water when you arrive? Carry a hose? what fitment for the tap on a camping site? or just squeeze it on?

Watering can? aquaroll?

What have you found is best? I don't want to be travelling with full tanks unless I have too.

I carry
a 25 metre hose with various fittings
a 10 litre plastic jerry can
a funnel which fits into the water filler.

I still have trouble at some sites.

We only ever travel with 20,ish litres or less in the tank to cut down on fuel. If we know where we are going and there is a tap we sometimes run empty.

You will get your own way in the end.

ALWAYS room for beer!

Now there's an idea, forget the hose, fill the water tank with beer.

When I started out motorhoming I used to fill the water tank to the top at every site and travel on, then I was talking to an old salt in the south of France and he put me straight, The more water you carry the more fuel it costs. He told me to buy a plastic watering can and fill tank enough to meet needs, about 1/4 tank is best. Since I bought the watering can I haven't used the hose in a few years.

Seen a few other people mention watering cans, think I will have to try and see what suits me, but I am dead against using more fuel than is needed!

When we went away first time there was 5 of us, we went through a full tank of water a day, seemed very excessive to me!

Indeed Wayfarer, much the same as us except as we tend to stay for a few days on each site we fill up on arrival and that does us (usually).

If wife decides site showers are not hot enough we go through more water ( strange that).

Should have mentioned before, we also carry a 20 litre grey water jerry can in case we are stopped for a few days and have the awning etc out. Easier to carry the water than move the van sometimes..

Its amazing how you can conserve water when you are in the van, if we could only do the same at home.

A quick soak all over, turn water off, lather yourself up, rinse off :)

I do this at home as well
