I parked up at the pier Thurs 15/8, pretty much a full compliment of vans in situ by late afternoon when 3 large motor homes one of which was towing an elderly caravan parked up along the waterside on the yellow lines. A rough estimate of value for the m/homes was agreed around €90k all vehicles had GB regs no,yes you hav probably guessed travellers (a lot of kids) shortly after arrival the Gards appeared ,note book out ,notes taken and within 2 hrs they departed.discussing the episode with other Irish homers we where all well pleased on their departure, An interesting afternoon. I only wish I could have afforded a van like theirs !!!!!

At least the guards were quick off the mark and able to distinguish between everyone and stop a situation arrising that could involve human rights and things like that and ruining a nice wild camping spot.

I wonder why the guards did not ask everyone to move,is it because they were on yellow lines, there is also a big American rv parked full time(for sale on it)whats the story with it.

I reckon the guards had a good case against the travellers-
One camper took over the only Handicap parking spot and the others were parked on double yellow lines. Not quiet sure why they did not move down towards the Yacht Club where there were spaces, butperhaps the trailer/caravan restricted them.

Harbour Master is Brillo in Howth. Himself & the Guards know the genuine & regular visitor.
As I have mentioned before in another thread, the voluntary occasional collection for the RNLI creates good relationships with the locals.
Harbour Master & Guards advised of reg numbers from collection we contributed into for RNLI.
