Bad end to a great holiday.

Just heard from John and Emily (Flansvan) they have been in an accident in France on their way to get the boat home.

Thankfully no one is hurt but they reckon their van is wrote off, they will explain better when they get home but scaffold bars came of a lorry and went through their van.

If anyone see's them on route or are on the same crossing from Cherbourg - bring them over a G&T and stop for a chat, I am sure they will appreciate it.

John & Emily: glad you are both ok!

Very annoying for any type of damage to happen but at least they were unhurt and were on the way home.

Well I am really glad to hear that they are both OK and did not suffer any injury. Scaffolding falling of a lorry .... well that could have been catastrophic.

Loosing your van like that is a huge disappointment. So our thoughts are with you both.

Our best wishes are with you in overcoming this setback and hopefully it will not stop you getting out there motorhoming again.

John & Emily, We are very sorry to hear about your accident! On a more positive note it would be worse if it happened on the way out and as was already said ye are lucky that ye are not injured and the van can be replaced.

Emily and John
What an end to a great holiday, but at least it was the end and not the start. You both unhurt is the most important thing, will see you both soon soon to catch up.

Thank you all ! Anyone got a spare passenger side for a 3 yr old Swift Sundance please let us know. Required parts are the rear of the van, and full length of the passenger side, including main door, double glazed window, & passenger door!! T-cut is not going to do the job on this occasion! Hard to believe an hour before I was using a cloth to clean a few files off the window & complaining about a few black streaks! John & Emily

Yeah John I know how it is but focus on the fact that you and Emily is ok. It's so disappointing and we treat our motorhomes like ourselves but as long as you and Emily is ok then everything else in time will be sorted out. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

Thanks all. We got the other drivers details, insurance etc all forms completed and Aviva informed. We hope the insurance company are as good as their word and the details are genuine! I will post the photos of the damage which is painful to look at. Be aware French police are not interested in your incident unless someone is injured no matter what the damage is. I met an irishman on the ferry who when told of the incident said "it's history now, so you can deal with it, nobody died" As he said this a flake of paint from the ferry funnel fell into his pint glass. He carried on drinking his pint despite the risk of lead poisoning. So we will keep calm and carry on!
